All the human beings face challenges, losses, trials, adversities, and hardships in one form or t... more All the human beings face challenges, losses, trials, adversities, and hardships in one form or the other – sometimes through losses and sometimes through abundance. If we fail to realize the reasons and wisdom behind such tests, we can commit grave mistakes which not only lead us to a depressed and dejected life in this world but also take away our success in the hereafter. It is, accordingly, very important to firstly, understand the reasons and rationale behind the concept of tests and trials and, secondly, to respond to them in a befitting and appropriate manner. In order to explore these aspects, we have reviewed the concept of tests, trials, and adversities from theological as well psychological perspective. Anchored in verses 155-157 of Surah Al-Baqarah, the scope of this paper is spread over the reasons why we are subjected to tests and trials, the means and modes of such tests, and the response a believer should demonstrate when undergoing any trials and tribulations.

The situation, in many instances, gets aggravated when researchers find contradicting information from various sources. Such a situation necessitates paying due attention to the contexts in which these works were written, the potential influences that the authors may have faced, and the way in which such works were transmitted. These Islamophobic attacks, unfortunately, are not merely conducted by radicalised individuals; but the subjugation of the rights of Muslim women also comes from institutional bodies and governments. Secular nations, such as France, Germany, Italy, Belgium, Netherlands, Bulgaria, Switzerland, USA, UK, Canada, China, and Russia have either imposed restrictions on Muslim women regarding their dress code. It is a highly critical decision to choose a language or a set of languages for inclusion in curriculum in a manner that would be most productive at personal, community and national level. What we need to see in our next generation has to be ‘sowed the seeds for’ today. Our study presents an overview of choices related to languages inclusion in curriculum for Muslim children from the perspective of acquiring local languages, Arabic, English and other international languages. Findings suggest that learning this set comprising of 4 languages is already practiced in different cultures and institutions. However selection of languages to be included in mix needs be carefully considered. Paper also highlights factors that govern influence of a particular language globally or for communities and recommend a set of languages that can be adopted for curriculum with further research.

With this objective in mind, we have surveyed hadith literature to identify all narrations that are linked to this topic. As a result, twenty-five types of actions and behaviors have been identified and reported in this paper. May Allah swt enable us to avoid these behaviors, attributes, actions, and attitudes and enable us to live a life of purity and righteousness.

This four-step process involves a) identifying the frame (i.e. Surahs or verses that are required to be explained); b) selecting the sources (systematically or purposively); c) codifying the data and identifying themes; and d) synthesizing, commenting and presenting. The 'Integrative Tafseer' approach has been used in this paper to explain surah Al-Adiyat, the hundredth surah of the Quran. Thirty one purposively selected tafaseer have been included in this study. The findings have been presented according to themes. In the step four of the process, sources other than the selected tafaseer have also been used for the purpose of commenting and further analysis.
