This study employed primary data, through in-depth interviews, field observations, and references related to this research. The data analysis in this study refers to the interactive analysis model of Matthew B. Miles and A. Michael Huberman. The results indicate that based on the communication flow of the livestock group in Banyuasin Regency, downward communication where the message flows from the head of the livestock group to his/her members formally is often carried out to facilitate the process of exchanging information, work instructions, orders, explanations, and work procedures in the group. Upward communication carried out by the group members to the head of the livestock groups in Banyuasin Regency is meant to provide reports on the work or group activities, suggestions, complaints, and criticisms, whose function is to determine the appreciation and loyalty of the members to the livestock group by submitting ideas to develop the group. Horizontal communication among officials in livestock groups in Banyuasin Regency is carried out formally, through joint problem solving, and exchange of ideas among members of livestock groups by holding meetings, cooperation, and coordination among group members. In addition, horizontal communication is also carried out by fellow group members by holding relaxed meetings and discussions to develop the group and participating in trainings that can support the abilities of the members. The results showed that there were three flows of communication channels, including downward communication, upward communication, and horizontal communication.

This study employed a descriptive method using a survey as the main strategy of data collection. The study was carried out in two disasterprone subdistricts in Banyuasin Regency, namely Tanjung Lago and Muara Telang. The sample selection of farmer respondents used a quota, based on which there were 30 farmers from each subdistrict. Therefore, according to the simple random sampling method, 60 farmers were involved in this study. Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA) was employed to identify sources of the risks. The results showed the mapping of risks experienced by beef cattle farmers illustrates the risks that occur in beef cattle business activities divided into four quadrants. The main risks that were prioritized are in quadrant one, namely natural disasters with an occurrence value of 0.35 and the value of severity of 2.57, availability of feed with an occurrence value of 0.17 and the value of severity of 2.16, government policies or regulations with an occurrence value of 0.12 and the value of severity of 2.31, and sick/dead cattle with an occurrence value of 0.10 and the value of severity of 2.09. It could be concluded the main risk in beef cattle farming in Banyuasin Regency was natural disasters, such as forest fires, floods, and tornadoes.

The survey used the questionnaires to gather data from 150 pig farmers which was conducted in a purposive method and was analyzed by multiple logistic regression model. The respondents were pig farmers who had experienced at least one year and have been affected by ASF epidemic in raising or trading pigs and other activities of the value chain. The result showed that the decision to choose information from government extension worker as the main information resource was affected by gender, pig herd size, informal education, and formal education (p<0.01) while only gender and education affecting the choice of farming visit as their communication channel (p<0.01). When farmers can access to ASF information, they know how to anticipate the disease and deal with the outbreak. It was concluded that socio-demographic have affected the choice of information sources while only gender and formal education affected communication channels. Furthermore, when accessing information sources and communication channels, pig farmers had an awareness of basic information about ASF.

In developed and developing economies, perceptions of risk and risk management measures among livestock farmers are seen as crucial (Hayran et al., 2021). All the cattle on farms would be wiped off by disease waves, especially if producers' prevention measures are not maintained. Currently, Anthrax and FMD are becoming a greater issue in Indonesia as the number of cattle killed by Anthrax and FMD increases continuously. In details, Anthranx and FMD is one of the most significant animal diseases producing considerable economic losses in susceptible cloven-hoofed animals at the present time (OIE, 2018). This study aims to evaluate the efficacy of farmer's prevention practices to reduce the risk of Anthrax and FMD. A total of 868 farmers from 4 regions in Yogyakarta Province participated in this study through face-to-face interviews using a multi-stage random sample method and quota sampling. Descriptive statistics were used to analyse primary data from the survey. Farmers were chosen by the criteria of who are staying and raising beef cattle in Yogyakarta. The results showed that farmers had a high experience and more than 50 years old, they worked as a farmer at the farm with low income from cattle production (less than 100$). Farmers had more than 8 years of education and raised their cattle under breeding system (68.55%). Besides, most farmers had a good knowledge of Anthrax and FMD. The risks analysis was performed by the great knowledge of farmers (65.7% and 77.9% respondents) to Anthrax and FMD and the dissemination of knowledge for FMD as well as a positive attitude for both Anthrax and FMD. However, the knowledge of Anthrax dissemination was risk (65.01% farmers had inappropriate practices). It could be concluded that Yogyakarta's cattle farmers are susceptible pose a risk from FMD prevention practices. Besides, farmers' Anthrax knowledge should be enhanced, as their knowledge and practices were poor.
