Here they be, see what you think. The Nature Of Magic In The BtVSverse: Magic is something only a select few can do, short of demonic deals others can't do it. Magic is naturally easier for some. The rest of the people can only do a little magic. Magic is naturally easier for some, but with determination others can learn magic. Magic is a skill learned, with hard work anyone can become adept at magic. The Nature Of Magic And Xander: Xander can't do magic, silly. Xander has done a little magic, but it was probably just activating a latent spell with a keyword. Xander doesn't need magic, stop the Marty Stuings! Xander probably could do magic if he applied himself, but he'd need a good reason. Xander can do anything, he rocks! Magic, Xander And A Purpose: Xander has a reason (a darn good one, to him) to learn magic to help someone. He is willing to apply himself. He has time to learn and the library/resources, but has to keep it a secret. Nope, Xander still can't do magic. Xander might be able to do something, but he probably can't save the day. If Xander applied himself and wanted it bad enough, of course he could do it. With time, good resources and a darn good reason? I wouldn't bet against him.
