Queer as Folk Fanfiction Writers
Helping each other become better writers and sharing our love for Queer as Folk.
Welcome to the Queer as Folk fanfiction writers community! This is a place for current, past, and future writers of Queer as Folk fanfiction to discuss what we do and how we do it. We’re here to talk about anything and everything related to writing and our favorite show, Queer as Folk.
A mod will post a discussion topic every week; feel free to chime in with your thoughts and experiences. Members are also welcome to post their own discussion topics, including:
-Requests for betas
-Asking the community for their opinions on what is/isn’t canon
-Posting sample chapters for specific feedback (ie, “is this the right tone for what I’m doing?” or “Would the story be more interesting from a different POV character?”
-Feedback on story ideas
-Discussions of characterizations, including original characters
Community Rules:
1. First and foremost, be good to each other. It’s fine to disagree, but do so respectfully. We’re here to support each other and help one another become better writers. We’re not here to bash anyone or anyone’s writing. On the other hand, if you ask for constructive criticism, be aware that that's what you're going to receive and be prepared to accept the suggestions with grace whether you agree with what is said or not.
2. We have lots of communities for fic-pimpage, so please don’t do that here unless it relates to a writing discussion or is a request for help (for example, “I’m not sure where to go next with my current WIP; would someone mind re-reading chapter eight and giving me some feedback on where I should focus next?”)
3. Recommendations are welcome, but only if they relate to a writing-related discussion (for example, “RetiredWriter’s story It’s About Time is a perfect example of our discussion about the importantance of pacing, and here are my thoughts.”)
What You Can Expect Here:
A mod will post a weekly discussion question related to writing fanfiction or Queer as Folk in order to stimulate conversation. If you have topics you’d like to discuss, feel free to post them at any time.
Not a writer?
You're still absolutely welcome to join our discussions! The opinions of "pure readers" are very helpful to writers and you may decide to give this a shot yourself. Writing is fun and addictive! The more you do it, the more skills you'll develop and the more you'll learn love it -- just like... well, lots of things. ♥
