Queers in Straight-Appearing Relationships

We're bisexual, pansexual, lesbian, transgendered, gay, et cetera. We are currently or have been in relationships that appear straight. Some of us are married according to some government somewhere. Some are not. Some of our relationships are recognized universally. Some are not. Some of us experience heterosexual privilege - the assumption that our relationships are straight and the privileges that come with that recognition. Some of us don't. Some of us have been shunned by the straight community for being queer, only to be ostracized by the queer community for being with someone who identifies differently. Some of us have received support everywhere we go, but still feel as though no one really understands. Some of us are constantly led to question the choice we have made. Some of us just want everyone to get over it. But we all want to be recognized for who and what we are, to feel that our choices are valid, our choice of whom to love and how to express that love. And we want this, too, to be recognized: We're queer, dammit!

This community is for people who identify as queer and are now, have been in past, or may be in future ensconced in a relationship that appears to be straight. Partners and allies are also welcome.

This community is currently unmoderated. Anyone can join; anyone can post; anyone can comment. This may change as the situation warrants.

If you're saying something you don't want the world to know, it's probably best that you friends-lock it. Otherwise it will probably show up on an anti- or drama community and we don't know what to tell you. Try not to look.

So far there is only one rule. Abusive behavior will not be tolerated.
