Some existing street names in Yogyakarta and Surabaya were changed to those associated with Sundanese history, such as Jalan Padjadjaran and Jalan Siliwangi, while some existing street names in Bandung were changed to those associated with Javanese history, such as Jalan Majapahit and Jalan Hayam Wuruk. The author explores this phenomenon using the concept of critical toponymies and examines the connections between naming, place-making, and power underlying such policy. This study found that, although the changes were made with good intentions, in some cases this was actually opposed by several factions within the local community because those changes could obliterate the historical significance and collective memory represented by the previous names. From theoretical perspective, this paper also discussed the successful and unsuccessful changes of street names, as well as their relevance to the current context. In other words, our findings can be taken into consideration in future policy-making process.

[Abstract Onomastics is the study of names and naming. In the context of Indonesia, research on onomastics has started to squirm recently through a number of scientific and scientific popular publications conducted not only by those with a linguistics background, but other related disciplines. In the meantime, the need to examine the social aspects of names and naming began to exist because names are present, produced, used by people in everyday life. In Europe, the social aspect of the name is discussed in a sociolinguistics and it is also known as socio-onomastics. This article explores onomastics, especially socio-onomastics in the scope of three theories (Folk Onomastics, Toponymic Attachment, and Landscape Linguistics), which emerged in Indonesia recently, and what the potential for its development in the future. In order to get a comprehensive picture, a literature search in onomastics, particularly socioonomastics, was carried out both theoretical studies and empirical studies. This article concludes that the studies of socio-onomastics in Indonesian cases are still limited and it needs to be further developed and not Western-centric. Further discussion is also needed and provided for names and naming practitioners as well as public policy makers.

The use of the push/pull distinction has been one way in which scholars have aimed to provide clarity to the process of radicalization and extremist disengagement. However, it remains a conceptually underdeveloped distinction. In this paper, we draw on aspects of criminological theory to better understand the push and pull distinction. The paper draws on research comprising interviews with three Indonesians and two Australian individuals who have radicalized to violent extremism that is aligned with jihadist ideologies. Based on this primary data, case descriptions and narratives are provided on each individual examining pathways into and away from violent extremism. We draw on aspects of strain theory, social control, differential association, and desistance theory to understand common patterns across each case and to highlight the relative influence of various push and pull factors. Implications for theory and policy are highlighted. We also acknowledge limitations in our approach.

Territory as a social space is formed through a process of semiosis preceded sensory knowing in identifying signs, repeatedly making representations in cognition that become the signifying order of the cultural semiotic on some students. Research using micro semiotic perspective and trichotomy of signs by Charles Sander Peirce. Through micro semiotic perspective, a number of particular findings will be analyzed to get a synthesis (inductive), whereas the approach of Peirce perspective explains the signs through the trichotomies: representamen represented through qualisigns, sinsigns, and legisigns; representation, represented by icons, indexes, and symbols; interpretant represented by rhemes, dicisigns, and arguments. As a result, there is a territorial signifying and meaning of Kansas by the undergraduate student of Fakultas Ilmu Pengetahuan Budaya Universitas Indonesia.

Its significance can be seen in the pros and cons responses toward the conversion of toponyms in Indonesia, as happened in Central Sulawesi, Lampung, West Kalimantan, Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam, Riau, and Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta. In Yogyakarta city, street renaming have been partially started since 2007, and massively in 2013. The Yogyakarta City Government changed it for reasons of cultural identity revitalization. Author aims to explore how toponyms as artifacts and cultural lexicons, changed and responded by the community. In toponomastics (toponymy studies), street renaming has been investigated by Marin, (2012), Algeo, (2015), and Neethling (2016). The data corpus of this paper is taken from a netizen's chat in Kaskus which started in January-September 2013. Toponymyc Attachment Theory will be used to analyze data corpus. The result, author found four attitudes toward street renaming in Yogyakarta city, such as supported, supported conditionally, rejected, and being irrelevant to the issue.

These difference has lasted for hundreds of years until Indonesia reach their Independence on August 17th 1945. These differences were also manifested in the naming of the places or so called toponymy, from Sabang (Aceh) until Merauke (Papua). Some of places in Indonesia has been known through the medium of song, be it national songs, folk songs and pop songs. Elements toponymy raised by these songs marked as the title track as well as published in the lyrics. The documentation of the place name, especially their uses on a song could be ecoomically helpful as potential promotion of tourism and culture to places mentioned in the song, as props in education especially on history and geography subjects to kindergarten students up to high school students; also as an emotional trigger of relation between the land and its people. The method used in this research is qualitative descriptive. The corpus of this study were taken from a number of literature and mass media from national songs, folk songs and pop songs which then analyzed for its origins, interpret the lyrics of the song, as well as linking it with the social conditions when the song was created. These findings are expected to collect toponymy data in Indonesia especially documented in popular songs and became a foundation of patriotism which should be passed down to the younger generation of Indonesia.

become a growing trend in various countries around the world. Although the city of Jakarta
has not yet embarked upon the commodification of public place names, this article
examines perceptions of the possibility of selling the naming rights to the city’s mass rapid
transit stations, focusing on three primary groups: urban residents, the business community,
and government officials. Drawing upon the results from a questionnaire survey, we
consider participants’ readiness to accept such toponymic commodification, potential
controversies that may arise with corporate sponsorships, and the tensions between
commemoration and commodification in the urban toponymic landscape.

(psychological intervention, financial strengthening, and ideological content) for women family members (usually wives or mothers), terrorism convicts, and exconvicts. As the name, this program aims to help participants become resilient in dealing with difficult situations, especially when their husbands or family members are being jailed. In the context of Indonesia, this program can be said to be quite effective in strengthening the women who are participants. One of the great things about the acceptance of participants in this program is that the
topics and the activities provided are quite universal, according to what they need, and can be applied to their daily lives. Therefore, it will be more
beneficial if the existing goodness can be transmitted to other communities, especially those outside Indonesia.
This guidance is created to support our partner, Nonviolent Peaceforce, in
Strengthening Local Stakeholders Capacity on Early Detection of Violent
Extremism, Radicalism, and Terrorism in Sulu, Philippines. With the available instructions and activities, it is hoped that this guidance can be used by local CSOs to make the families who are beneficiaries of the program more resilient in terms of psychological, ideological, and financial. The hope is that a resilient family can form a resilient community as well.
Finally, thank you for the trust given by the Nonviolent Peaceforce Philippines and the Royal Netherlands Embassy in making this Family Resilience Program Book. Of course, this is not a simple process, but it is still possible to realize. We hope that this book can be put to good use and
developed/practiced for actors to prevent/counter violent extremism.

Data were collected from two Islamic news website: Voa-Islam and Arrahmah. Both websites are categorised as radical Islamic sites. By using the discursive psychology approach, it was found that when ISIS is viewed as a group that actualised the establishment of an Islamic State, it is praised and supported. However, when ISIS is deemed to have killed other fellow Muslims, it is opposed and its movement is considered to be ‘out of Islamic corridors'. Practical implications of these findings are identified and discussed.

The Islamic State (IS) wave has reached and affected Indonesia more than other countries like Malaysia and The Philippines in Southeast Asia. Among Southeast Asia countries, Indonesia is the most dangerous countries beside the Philippines in term of terrorism. It is caused by radical ideology that existed seven decades ago, started by Negara Islam Indonesia/Indonesian Islamic State (NII) and Jamaah Islamiyah that affiliated to international extremist organization Al-Qaeda. In other words, radical ideology has a strong root in Indonesia. The Indonesian counterterrorism agency has carried out many strategies in the prevention domain. As an effort to end the hostility, both ethnic representations agreed to reconcile through symbolic actions, such as the change of toponyms. The paper aims to examine the dynamics of toponym changes with a cultural reconciliation background. The analysis begins with the dynamics of the initial process when place names are changed, examining the local community's perceptions and attitudes after the change, preferences for the use of names (old versus new), and the tensions that arise within the community. Additionally, we critique the effectiveness of the toponym change. Based on the analysis, this change remains symbolic and is carried out by elites. Nevertheless, peace efforts still deserve appreciation, although several strategies may be needed in the future, and the post-change situation needs to be carefully examined. Theoretical implications to policy strategies have been comprehensively discussed. ------------------

English abstract:
'The paper discusses the role of Linguistic Landscape in increasing the promotion of tourism in Bandung city areas. Previously, in terms of tourism, Yogyakarta and Malang city had already used elements of Linguistic Landscape to promote the local culture. Thus, Linguistic Landscape and toponymy can contribute in empowering local communities to continue the economic cycle. The authors utilize a number of recent literature related to the implementation of Linguistic Landscapes regarding indigenous culture, tourism, and government regulations. By using Google Street View, Jalan Braga, and Jalan Ir. H. Juanda (Jalan Dago) are used as objects of discussion because they are iconic tourist spots. Based on a review of academic studies, we provide recommendations in the form of a practical communication strategy for the public in order to adhere to the health protocol through multilingual creative media as a campaign tool. In addition, the Government, tourists, and the community also need to be actively involved as LL actors so that the messages can be conveyed
effectively. In conclusion, the authors recommend the possibility of using creativity of Linguistic Landscape to create safe and healthy public space in promoting cultural and economic excellence through regional policies Key words: linguistic landscape, tourism, street name, pandemic of Covid-19, Bandung city

However, if done right, it can have a positive outcome and highlight heritage. This progress report is based on ongoing research by members of the Indonesian Toponymy Community (Komunitas Toponimi Indonesia - KOTISIA). The research looks at the local government’s intention to make changes to as many as 600 of the street names in the city of Yogyakarta, a historical city on the island of Java in Indonesia. This report focuses on the names of a long street which run north south intersecting the royal palace (keraton). The streets there have had different names during different historical periods. The government was motivated by a desire to reflect local heritage more in the city’s street names. The study so far shows the lexical and historical meanings attached to the proposed new names. It also has a philosophical dimension. Public reaction to the name changes has been mixed. Many people accept the decision as it was seen as coming from the Sultan. Not everybody is happy. However, some people are enthusiastic as they welcome the attention given to tradition and heritage
