Elemental analyses, IR, 1H NMR, 13C NMR and mass spectral elucidated the structures of the newly synthesized compounds. Some of the azo metal compounds were treated with silver nanoparticles. Transmission electron microscopy is used to determine the morphology and particles size via TEM image of nanoparticles and nano form of compounds. The antimicrobial activity of the recently synthesized compounds and its nano form has been measured against gram positive and gram negative bacteria and fungi.

Terminal flexible groups of different chain lengths were connected to the end of phenylbenzoate unit while the other end of molecules was attached to the heterocyclic pyridine moiety. The molecular structures of the designed molecules were evaluated by FT-IR, NMR spectroscopic analyses, whereas their mesomorphic properties were investigated by polarized optical microscopy (POM) and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). They all exhibited dimorphic properties with the exception of the members having the shortest and longest terminal flexible chains (n = 6 and 16), which were monomorphic. The T16 derivative was further found possessing purely smectic A (SmA) mesophase while others have their lengths covered by nematic (N) phase. Moreover, the computational evaluation of the azomethine derivatives was carried out using a...

Green Chemistry Letters and Reviews

All the compounds show moderate antimalarial activity with IC 50 < 100 μM, six of them showed high antimalarial activity (2, 3, 4, 6, 8 and 9) with IC 50 < 50 μM. The most active 7chloroquinoline derivative is a compound (9). Also, the newly synthesized compounds were screened for their antitumor activity towards three lines of cancer cells, MCF-7 (human breast cancer), HCT-116 (colon carcinoma) and Hela (Cervical carcinoma) cell lines. Compounds (3) and (9) exerted the highest activity on all cell lines and showed special selectivity toward MCF-7 cells and the antibacterial screening data showed moderate to good inhibition zone (12.5 ± 0.63-23.8 ± 1.5) towards all the tested compounds. Elucidation of the structures of these new pure compounds was based on, IR, 1 H NMR, 13 C NMR, MS and their elemental analysis.

Compared to other methods such as microwave or ultrasound irradiation and ionic liquids, ball mill chemistry is an economical, and ecofriendly method in organic synthesis that is rather underrepresented in the knowledge of organic chemists. The aim of this review is to explore the advantages of the application of ball milling in synthesis of -heterocyclic compounds.

Moreover, an easy method for applying this hybrid to cotton fabric was established. The tensional strength, uniformity and compatibility of the hybrid components in forming of a strong film were studied using different variables, including the chitosan 3-amino-1,2,4-triazole ratio, fixation temperature and time. The loading of the hybrid onto the fabric in the absence and presence of cross linker (butane tetra carboxylic acid) was also studied. The best conditions for preparing the hybrid was a 1:4 molar ratio of chitosan to 3-amino-1,2,4-triazole at 60 • C for 240 min, and those for the application of the hybrid to cotton fabric were a 1:1 molar ratio at 150 • C with a 5 min curing time. Both hybrid and treated cotton fabrics were characterized using FTIR, SEM, TGA, and DSC as well as the nitrogen content and tensional strength of the treated cotton. Finally, the antibacterial activities of the treated cotton fabric display 100% activity and excellent effects against gram-positive bacteria, Staphylococcus aureus and gram-negative Escherichia coli.

Several reaction parameters were investigated such as rotation frequency; milling balls weight and milling time. The optimum reaction condition was milling with 56.6 g weight of balls at 20 Hz frequency for one hour milling time. The study was extended for synthesis of a series of benzimidazol-2-one or benzimidazol-2-thione using different aldehydes; carboxylic acids; urea; thiourea or ammonium thiocyanate with o-phenylenediamine. Moreover; the alkylation of benzimidazolone or benzimidazolthione using ethyl chloroacetate was also studied.

The obtained compounds were identified by their spectral (IR, mass and NMR) data. Moreover, DFT quantum chemical calculations were used to study the mechanism of the cycloaddition reaction. The regioselectivity was explained using transition state calculations, where the calculations agreed with the formation of products 4 and 5 in almost the same ratio. The reaction was also extended for diphenylaceylene as dipolarophile to give only two products instead of three.
