SOVEREIGN GRACE
LiveJournal Community

“The grandest fact under heaven is this: that Christ by his
precious blood does actually put away sin, and that God,
for Christ’s sake, dealing with men on terms of divine
mercy, forgives the guilty and justifies them, not according
to anything that he sees in them or foresees will be in them,
but according to the riches of his mercy which lie in his
own heart.” -- Charles Haddon Spurgeon

But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus.

Ephesians 2:4-6

But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

John 1:12-13

For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren. Moreover whom He predestined, these He also called; whom He called, these He also justified; and whom He justified, these He also glorified. What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?

Romans 8:29-31

O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! how unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past finding out! For who hath known the mind of the Lord? or who hath been his counsellor? Or who hath first given to him, and it shall be recompensed unto him again? For of him, and through him, and to him, are all things: to whom be glory for ever. Amen.

Romans 11:33-36

PURPOSE

The purpose of the Sovereign Grace community is to be a platform for open discussion and the exchange of ideas regarding the doctrines of grace, which altogether should be understood as the theology of the Protestant Reformation. Ecclesia reformata semper reformanda est secundu Verbum Dei ("the reformed Church is always being reformed according to the Word of God"). We want to celebrate, explore, and glorify God for all that he has revealed himself to be and for the truly amazing grace that He has awesomely lavished on all those he has given to Jesus Christ, to be redeemed by him and for his sake, for the glory of God. From everlasting to everlasting God has a redemptive purpose, according to his own will, which he sovereignly and infallibly brings to pass in all things.

Some of the more familiar keywords commonly associated with the doctrines of grace are: Reformed, Calvinism, TULIP, election, predestination, depravity, substitutionary atonement, propitiation, regeneration, justification, sovereignty, and so forth. Some of the more recognizable names of those who have affirmed the doctrines of grace are: Martin Luther, John Bunyan, Charles Spurgeon, Jonathan Edwards, Robert M'Cheyne, James Packer, Robert Sproul, John Piper, James White, and so forth—although, since the doctrines of grace are radically scriptural, it is accurate to further assert that the early church fathers and apostolic tradition likewise affirmed these doctrines (which can be demonstrated; q.v. Church of Rome at the Bar of History by William David Webster, plus the Reformed confessions and any Reformed apologetic or systematic theology).

MEMBERSHIP

This community was created by a Christian believer in the doctrines of grace, primarily for other Christians who believe in or want to learn more about said doctrines. However, any person is allowed to join and comment—provided they obey the rules. Anyone with an honest interest in the topic and a willingness to discuss it respectfully will be welcomed.

RULES

Show respect toward the Christian faith, no matter what your beliefs. This is primarily a Christian community. Do not blaspheme or insult God (whether the Father, Son, or Holy Spirit), do not use obviously inappropriate userpics, nor post links, graphics, or text of inappropriate material (e.g. lewd content or offensive language), and so forth. Stop for a moment and consider the level of respect you would like people to show you—and then show people exactly that level of respect. Please feel free to ask genuine questions and seek to understand the viewpoints of others, but do not be hostile, insulting, or demeaning. Sincere questions that wish to contrast Arminianism vs. Calvinism or Open Theism vs. Omniscience are permitted but people coming here with theological axes to grind should take their debates elsewhere. Please respect the Moderators. If they ask you to change a topic or close a thread, please comply. Violaters are subject to banning. If you have any questions about the community Rules, please send them to [sovereigngrace@kyriosity.ca](http://Please respect the Moderators.
