Product Linking: Link Search Console and Google Ads (original) (raw)

With the paid and organic report, you can review how often pages from your website show in Google’s free organic search results. You can also review which search terms triggered those results to show on the search results page. This information can help you better understand how paid text ads and organic search results work together to help you reach people searching online.

To view the paid and organic report, you must have your Search Console account linked to your Google Ads account. This article shows you how to link the 2 accounts.

Eligibility requirements for linking Search Console and Google Ads accounts

Before you link your Search Console and Google Ads accounts:

You must be the administrator for both Google Ads and Search Console to proceed with linking the 2 platforms.

  1. Go to Data manager within the Tools menu Tools Icon.
  2. Under “Featured products”, select Search Console.
  3. Select Proceed. Follow the steps below, depending on whether you own the site or it's a new site.

For sites you own

  1. Scroll down to “Link other sites you own”.
  2. Under the “Action” column, select Link.

For new sites

  1. If you already have linked website, select the plus button to create a new link.
  2. Enter the URL of the website you want to link to your Google Ads account.
    • Make sure that you add one version with “www.” and another version without “www.” For instance, add “www.example.com” as well as “example.com”. You don’t need to specify HTTP or HTTPS.
  3. Select Link site.
    • If your Google Ads account is listed as an owner of this website on the Search Console account, the “Status” column shows “Linked”. This means that the link was successfully created.
    • If your Google Ads account is not listed as an owner of this website on the Search Console account, the “Status” column shows “Requested”. Google will send a request for access to the website to the current owner and create the link when the owner grants access.
    • An error appears if there’s no owner listed for the website you're trying to link.

  1. Go to Data managerwithin the Tools menu Tools Icon.
  2. Under “Featured products”, select Search Console.
  3. Select Proceed.
  4. Find the website you want to unlink your Google Ads account from, and select Unlink site in the “Actions” column.
