If your app contains or promotes health content and services, you must ensure your app is compliant with any applicable laws and regulations.

Health and Medical Apps

Policy Summary

To protect user safety and safeguard sensitive health data, Google Play prohibits apps from offering misleading or harmful health functionality and requires regulatory proof or a disclaimer for apps offering medical functionality. Health and medical apps must complete the Health apps declaration form in Play Console and post a privacy policy detailing the handling of personal and sensitive data. If your app offers health-related features or information as part of its functionality, or accesses health data to support non-health features, it must comply with the existing Google Play Developer Policies, including Privacy, Deception and Device Abuse, in addition to the below requirements:

Key Considerations

Do Don't
Complete the required Health apps declaration in Play Console. Don'trequest health permissions or collect health data that is not essential to your app's core functionality.
Provide a clear, publicly-accessible privacy policy link in-app and in store listing. Don'toffer medical functionalities that are misleading or potentially harmful.

Health Connect Data

Data accessed through Health Connect Permissions is regarded as personal and sensitive user data subject to the User Data policy, and is subjected to additional requirements.


Prescription Drugs

We do not allow apps that facilitate the sale or purchase of prescription drugs without a prescription.


Unapproved Substances

Key Considerations

Do Don't
Consult LegitScript.com for information on prohibited substances. Don't facilitate the sale of unapproved pharmaceuticals or supplements.
Remove products that have been subject to regulatory warnings. Don't sell products containing ephedra or hCG for weight loss.
Ensure your app does not contain false or misleading health claims. Don't use names that are confusingly similar to controlled substances.

Health Misinformation

We don’t allow apps containing misleading health claims that contradict existing medical consensus, or can cause harm to users.
