Kabupaten Aceh Barat telah melaksanakan program-program yang bertujuan untuk peningkatan usaha petani. Pembangunan masyarakat desa melalui pengembangan usaha pedesaan diharapkan dapat lebih sukses dengan mengembangkan usaha yang didasari inisiatif dan berpartisipasi aktif masyarakat. Dengan adanya masukan dari masyarakat tersebut, dapat memudahkan mengidentifikasi kebutuhan pengembangan berdasarkan potensi dan latar pelakang pengalaman masyarakat. Melalui kajian ini diharapkan dapat dikembnagkan usaha yang sesuai kebutuhan dan aktivitas peningkatan kemampuan yang dibutuhkan. Dalam rangka peningkatan hasil kajian ini, tim mengharapkan saran guna memberikan masukan dan perbaikan agar laporan ini dikembangkan sesuai dengan kebutuhan pembangunan khsususnya pengembangan usaha agribisnis pedesaan di Kabupaten Aceh Barat.

This research uses Revealed Comparative Advantage (RCA) analysis to analyze comparative advantage and Trade Specialization Index (ISP) to analyze competitive advantage. The study aims to describe the financial behaviour of arabica coffee farmers and to find out what factors influence the financial behaviour of arabica coffee farmers in Aceh Tengah Regency. The sample in this study was 147 samples taken by simple random sampling. This study uses descriptive statistics and ordinal logistic regression. The results of descriptive statistics show that the financial behaviour of arabica coffee farmers in Aceh Tengah Regency is good enough, with a percentage of 57%. This condition is not optimal in managing their finances because of the 9 statements used to measure financial behaviour, only 5 statements have been fulfilled. This modeling is carried out as an effort to enhance bargaining position at farm level. The result showed that non-formal partnership relationship in potato supply chain is originated from the gap in capital ownership between farmers and intermediary traders, thus giving rise to motivation to control farmers by providing financial loan to farmers. Determination of the location of this study determined intentionally (purposive). The analytical method used in this research is the value-added analysis method of the Hayami model and the marketing efficiency analysis method. The analysis shows the value added of export Arabica coffee green bean grade 1 (special) on Oro Coffee Gayo is moderate, and green bean grade 2 (premium) is also moderate. Based on the value of marketing efficiency of green bean grade 1 and green bean grade 2 Oro Coffee Gayo marketing is assessed as efficient which is equal to (EP 0-50% efficient marketing).

The area of coffee plantation in Aceh Tengah is 49,251 Ha. However, problems and uncertainities ofter occur in agriculture business. Arabica coffee supply chain actors often faced with several risks. That risks can hamper the supply chain opperational process. Supply chain risk that are often faced are production, quality, price and human risk. The purpose of this study are to identify the causes and consequances of risks and the level of risks in each supply chain actor. Risk identification was done using an approach of what-if analysis, and risk evaluation was developed using fuzzy FMEA model. The result shows that the higher to lower level of supply chain risk of 4 variables are (1) Price (632 FRPN), (2) Grade (500 FRPN), and (3) Production and Human (461 FRPN).

Peat swamp forest in Aceh Province is one of the Indonesian peatland ecosystems that is undergoin... more Peat swamp forest in Aceh Province is one of the Indonesian peatland ecosystems that is undergoing systemic degradation due to land conversion. Strong corporate domination of land conversion activities has also degraded livelihood opportunities for local communities, driving them into poverty and conditions of underdevelopment. Despite government interventions aiming to improve both ecosystem and social sustainability that have included initiatives in community empowerment, the peatland has continued to suffer degradation. This raises concerns about the effectiveness of social aspects of the interventions. Our study analysed correlations amongst indicators of community empowerment on the one hand, and environmental, economic and social sustainability on the other, with a view to devising an improved approach for future sustainable development initiatives. Quantitative interview methods were used to survey 112 local residents, then qualitative and Structural Equation Model (SEM) analyses based on Likert scoring were employed to interpret the data. The results show that the social factor is the main reason for low empowerment of the community. In order to build capacity for independent and sustainable utilisation of the peatland, a new social-based learning approach to community empowerment is proposed.

Cocoa is a major cash crop managed by small holder farmers in Indonesia. One of the most crucial ... more Cocoa is a major cash crop managed by small holder farmers in Indonesia. One of the most crucial aspects to running a business operation in a farmers’ institution such as a cooperative is working capital. In improving their business operation, the cocoa cooperatives have collaborated with syariah financing facility. Various challenges faced by the cooperatives internally and externally.
This study was to determine the effectiveness of working capital in the cocoa cooperative business operation. Survey and interview were conducted to two groups of respondents, i.e. member and management of cooperative. Purposive and random sampling were used to management and member of cooperative, respectively.
The cooperative capacities are weak in the areas of: cocoa supply, management accountability, financial transparency, and members participatory. There was 37.85% of farmers sold their cocoa to primary cooperatives and 13% of primary cooperatives sold to secondary cooperatives. Respondent perception on management accountability and financial transparency were 20%, 40%, 40% and 30%, 30%, 40% (excellent, good, fair), respectively. Only 31% of members did understand their function and performed their duties. On the other hand, there are also resistances from local cocoa traders, resulting in ineffective cooperative business operation.

Soybeans is one of the third most important food crops after paddy and maize. In addition, soybeans are also rich in protein-rich crops that have significance in the food and feed industry. The purpose of this research is to know and analyze the attitude of soybean farmers in marketing cooperation with traders in Gampong Lada Sub-regency Mutiara Timur Regency Pidie. The method used in data collection is snow ball sampling. The number of respondents in this study is as many as 20 people. Data collection techniques using questionnaires, interviews, observations and literature studies. The data obtained is tabulated and then analyzed using descriptive method. The results showed that the attitude of soybean farmers in marketing cooperation with traders is considered to be agreed by the farmers of respondents. This attitude is important because farmers expect to receive high income by marketing cooperation with merchants.

ABSTRAK
Kedelai merupakan salah satu dari komoditas tanaman pangan terpenting ketiga setelah padi dan jagung. Selain itu, kedelai juga merupakan tanaman palawija yang kaya akan protein yang memiliki arti penting dalam industri pangan dan pakan. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui dan menganalisis sikap petani kedelai dalam kerjasama pemasaran dengan pedagang di Gampong Lada Kecamatan Mutiara Timur Kabupaten Pidie. Metode yang digunakan dalam pengumpulan data adalah snow ball sampling. Jumlah responden dalam penelitian ini adalah sebanyak 20 orang. Teknik pengumpulan data dengan menggunakan kuisoner, wawancara, pengamatan dan studi literatur. Data yang diperoleh ditabulasi dan selanjutnya dianalisis dengan menggunakan metode deskriptif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sikap petani kedelai dalam kerjasama pemasaran dengan pedagang dianggap setuju oleh petani responden. Sikap ini penting dikarenakan petani berharap akan menerima pendapatan yang tinggi dengan kerjasama pemasaran dengan pedagang.

It contributes up to 17 percent of local revenue (BPS 2012). Cocoa plantation in Aceh Province cultivated by small farmers living in rural areas and raised as their main source of income (Fadjar, 2010). Padang Tiji Subdistrict is located in Pidie District and it is one of central cocoa areas. It has 25 percent of total 5,350.5 hectares Pidie area, meanwhile its production only reaches 16 percent of total production number in Pidie District which has 1,407 tons (Dishutbun, 2012).
