The importance of thinking about a common future and perceiving the impact of history on the present was emphasised, taking into account memories of the Volhynian Massacre and prejudice against Ukrainians resulting from the negative experiences of ancestors and neighbours. Emotional involvement in various types of care was juxtaposed with human solidarity, a sense of common purpose and a human bond beyond divisions.

The paper discusses the relationships between human and non-human actors, the ef- fect of which was to improve sleep. An attempt was made to recognize the pos- sibilities and limitations of the use of OURA tools in diagnosing the quality of day and night activity and designing proper daily functioning in order to ensure health. The quantitative data and their qualitative interpretations presented in the paper relate to the SEN research field. The narrative scheme for organ- izing knowledge about one’s health, adopted for analysis and descriptions, in ac-cordance with the formula: goal – obstacle – overcoming – result, as well as an autoethnographic approach to research, raised more questions than answers. Un- answered questions became an inspiration to undertake research on other fields of OURA, as well as to expand the network of actors on an interdisciplinary or multidisciplinary basis.

All students, lecturers and administration staff had to start distance education. Suddenly, overnight, they all became the subjects of the digital revolution. This text is an overview of selected literature from 2020 compiled to reflect on the differences and similarities between higher education institutions in Poland and the United States as they reacted to the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite their inherent differences the two different systems of higher education in these two countries have reacted to the pandemic in a number of similar ways. It could be observed that the more independent system in the United States reacted faster to the unexpected changes, when faculty and higher education administrators waited for a decision from the centrally governing body: The Ministry of Education. The reaction and focus of the interventions pointed to similar areas: access to technology for students and their teachers, professional development of faculty, and student engagement. It seems that in both cases the pandemic exposed the shortcomings of both systems. While there are many unknows about the future, the common question for both systems will centre around making higher education institutions nimble enough to emerge from these challenging times better and stronger.

W pracy omówiono relacje ludzkich i pozaludzkich aktorów, których efektem miała być poprawa snu. Podjęto próbę rozpoznania możliwości i ograniczeń stosowania narzędzi OURA w diagnozowaniu jakości dziennej i nocnej aktywności oraz projektowaniu właściwego dobowego funkcjonowania w celu zapewnienia zdrowia.

The research was conducted in June 2013 and the specific question applied in the research tool was a real example from the academic life, which was discussed in the media. The context of the analysis is mass nature of higher education. The text presents statistics showing the scale and growth of academic enrolment rate in Poland in the last quarter-century. The analysis focuses on the consequences of the mass nature of higher education for the experience of trust in educational interactions, and precisely on the experience of trust during examinations. In this paper we present a small part of our research on culture of trust in educational interactions assisted by ICT.

Employing an interdisciplinary research approach, the study combines critical theory and visual communication methodologies to uncover the deeper messages conveyed by these thought-provoking murals. The analysis encompasses six diverse perspectives—historical, personal, ethical, cultural, technical, and critical—leading to the identification of six distinct mural categories: (1) resistance and hope, (2) family and courage, (3) suffering and death, (4) torturers and the oppressed, (5) animals, and (6) idyllic. The study underscores the significance of murals as a public art form for symbolically communicating social, cultural, and political events while introducing novel interpretations and expanding visual communication possibilities. W wyniku poszukiwań związku pomiędzy zaufaniem a pracą nauczyciela zauwa yłam, e istnieje silna zale no ć pomiędzy zaufaniem, a warto ciowaniem rodowiska pracy.

The study used collective autoethnography to identify common motives and patterns of action. There were presented statements of three women—university lecturers from three Polish universities who struggled with worries and conflict of conscience regarding the war in Ukraine and the Ukrainian refugees. Deliberating on the meaning and importance of the use of technology in education, science, and culture, they were guided by reason, behind which are curiosity and research concerns. The collection of a dozen of substantive texts, prepared by many kinds of authors, is intended to lead to discussion on the relations between culture, education and technologies. The first part covers issues related to the technical environment and culture, and the second part covers education from the perspective of digital reality. It is worth noting that both present approach theoretical and empirical, considering analysis, methodology and practical solutions for education in contemporary technological culture. This study is not a closed part, but an announcement of the texts that are being prepared for the next volumes.

From the collected stories about experiencing the pandemic, we singled out the thread of distance learning. We created a multivoiced narrative and then submitted it to a collective reflection. Collective autoethnography made it possible not only to recognize changes in the thinking about the self, academic culture, and teaching itself but also to pose questions about the possibility of transformation.

However, assessment of student learning has not been adopted by faculty and their leaders, and the effort is normally addressed as a bureaucratic demand. The objective was to identify topics that could help shape the discourse regarding the assessment of student learning. The study revealed that the universities in Poland are ready to ensure graduating students competencies demanded by the contemporary world.

It presents the material gathered and analysed referring to visual messages in urban public spaces in Kenya, on the case study of the Kilifi county, on the coast of the Indian Ocean. These investigations and analyses, based on Paul Martin Lester model of visual communication analysis, are important because all contemporary societies in Europe, Africa and the rest of the world have at stake solving the problems of communication in their urban public spaces saturated with images which may be diversely (accurately, incorrectly, falsely) read by individuals in the city whether by residents, tourists, visitors, or researchers. The urban text has a polyphonic character in its diversity of contents and forms, but also is full of contradictions, and sometimes absurdities, paradoxes, and palimpsest, what requires specific comp...
