Resilience Engineering is a new approach of safety management and an inherent ability of an organization to regulate its functions before or during disruptions, enabling it to continue operating in times of crisis or constant stress. This paper presents an integrated framework for evaluating, ranking and selecting top suppliers in terms of resilience, greenness and occupational safety and health issues. The framework is based on using expert panel meetings and Delphi method to define the criteria, and content validity ratio to measure validity of the designed framework. Besides, two Multi-Criteria Decision Methods namely the Best-Worst Method and Multi-Attributive Border...

A Mixed Integer Linear Programming (MILP) model is formulated for optimizing the total cost, the amount of pollutants, and the number of job opportunities created in the proposed supply chain network under the uncertainty of cost, supply, and demand. In addition, to deal with uncertainty, fuzzy logic is used. Moreover, four multi-objective metaheuristic algorithms are employed to solve the model, which include a novel multi-objective version of the recently proposed metaheuristic algorithm known as Multi-Objective Reptile Search Optimizer (MORSO), Multi-Objective Simulated Annealing (MOSA), Multi-Objective Particle Swarm Optimization (MOPSO), and Multi-Objective Grey Wolf (MOGWO). All the algorithms are evaluated using LP-metric in small sizes and their results and performance are compared based on criteria such as Max Spread (MS), Spre...

These changes will be cast-effective when they have the minimum damage on the landscape. One of the activities that human did for obtaining the water and preventing flood was making the dam in the track of running water. Since the dam is established until its impoundment and after impoundment, the condition of ecosystem and the appearance of the upstream and downstream of the dam will undergo changes. In this study, using satellite data and remote sensing, these changes have been studied and the landuse changes in vegetation, arid land, water level and residential and non-residential lands is measured in 1998 and 2014 using Maximum Likelihood method and support vector machine.

Current studies have mainly concentrated on economic factors for the selection and evaluation of suppliers, and few emphases have been focused on the triple factors of sustainability, including economic, environmental, and social elements. The improvement of Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) performance levels promotes the sustainability of the companies in terms of social and environmental responsibility. Therefore, this study aimed to present a framework to evaluate the HSE performance of suppliers; moreover, it was attempted to rank the performances based on the proposed framework. Materials and Methods: The HSE performance evaluation criteria were determined after reviewing the literature and obtaining expert opinions. Subsequently, Multi-Criteria Decision Making techniques were utilized simultaneously to rank the suppliers. In addition, the resilience engineering ...

In this paper, an overview of the methods of analysis paid to human error. The aim of this study is to provide guidance to select the appropriate method for determining human error in the workplace, according to the circumstances, needs and limitations for each person is performing. Data collection methods in the study of literature and case studies carried out in this field. 10 techniques that are used to select high accuracy using criteria that are commonly used for the analysis and systems are important to choose the right method (eg, comprehensiveness, accuracy, consistency and output methods) are compared with each other. For comparison criteria used by professionals, human reliability analysis and human factors are important for meaningful review...

Research paper thumbnail of Toxicological Effects of Silver Nanoparticles (Ag-NPs) on Different Physiological Parameters of Tadpoles, Polypedates maculatus

International Journal of Bio-resource and Stress Management, Oct 7, 2018

The effects of silver nanoparticles (Ag-NPs) on the growth, metamorphosis, innate immune paramete... more The effects of silver nanoparticles (Ag-NPs) on the growth, metamorphosis, innate immune parameters and enzyme profiles of tadpole, Polypedates maculatus were studied. Chronic exposure to Ag-NPs for 60 days at 1 mg l-1 and 5 mg l-1 concentrations caused 10% and 50% mortalities respectively alongwith slow growth and delayed metamorphosis as compared to 0.1 mg l-1 treatment and control (0 mg l-1). The non-specific immune parameters and certain enzyme activities like alkaline phosphatase (ALP), superoxide dismutase (SOD) and lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) varied significantly in a dose dependent manner. The accumulation of silver in the tadpole tissues of treated groups ranged from 0.0966±0.0025 µg g-1 to 0.4718±0.0126 µg g-1 as compared to tissues in control group (0.0758±0.0019 µg g-1). Hence Ag-NPs had significant detrimental effects on growth and other associated physiological parameters of tadpole, Polypedates maculatus when administered at higher concentrations (>1 mg l-1) for longer durations. Thus the toxicity studies of Ag-NPs have to be conducted on wider ranges of target and non-target species to assess their environmental impacts. Furthermore, these results suggest that silver nanoparticles induce a dose-dependent toxicity in physiological parameters of tadpoles, which hinders normal development. This study was aimed to enhance our insight on the health and environmental impact of silver nanoparticles. This study pointed out the adverse effects of Ag-NPs in tadpole species and all applications involving silver nanoparticles should be given special attention and promoted only after detailed studies.

The second generation method of HRA was developed to address the limitation of the First Generation methods, which their center of attention was inherent human error probabilities with less attention to the conditions of the workplace. The CREAM benefits from two methods of quantification namely, Basic, and Extended methods. The Basic method is a rapid and simple way to estimate the probability of human error based on the level of control that operators have on their performance. However, the result obtained by this method is an interval value rather than a specific value that can be used in quantitative risk assessment (QRA) methods. To overcome this issue, a fuzzy logic approach was developed on the basis of CREAM methodology. In this research, the fuzzy modeling of CREAM is appli...

Oxidative stress is known to be involved in the pathogenesis of such diseases. The present study aimed to investigate the association between multiple occupational exposures in foundry workers and expression of deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) repair genes as a biomarker of oxidative DNA damage. The study sample comprised 17 foundry workers and 27 matched control subjects. Expression of 8-oxoguanine DNA glycosylase-1 (OGG1), inosine triphosphate pyrophosphate (ITPA), and MutT homolog 1 (MTH1) in peripheral blood was examined using the real-time polymerase chain reaction method. Air sampling to determine exposure to metal-rich particulate matter and measurement of extremely low-frequency electromagnetic fields (ELF-EMFs) were conducted according to the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health standard methods. Personal air...
