| | My grandfather's "Celebration of Life" (Episcopal-speak for "funeral service") was today in Mt. Vernon and I've been weepy for the last few days as a result. To work with my grief and angst, I drove to Havre to check out the Ben Franklin there (which had been talked up to me on Tuesday). The Ben Franklin there was crappy but I did find some lovely fleece there...**( The fleece patternCollapse )When I got home, I measured out the fabric and cut the strips to tie. I spent some time listening to "Wait Wait Don't Tell Me" and some stuff on Napster by Wild Mountain Thyme. ( Here is the finished result.Collapse ) On Monday or Tuesday, it will be mailed to Kalispell to the local Project Linus coordinator.Hope you like it Opa. Tags:blankets, charity, fleece Well, I took someone's advice from a comment left on my other post from awhile ago and made this awesome blanket for my dad.. its made from fleece, I used a Jeff Gordon print for the top and just white for the bottom, I think it turned out quite well! Its heavy and should keep him warm! =) It was very easy to do, I cut both fabrics at the same, and then tied them in the knots around the whole thing, its really awesome =)pic below cut =)( Wasnt sure for size, so I did whats best for all =)Collapse )Tags:blankets, fleece Here is the baby blanket I crocheted for my son. I finished it at the OB office 30 mins. before the doctor sent me to the hospital to have him. It is made of Baby Heart Brand yarn in a pastel variegated color. Very Soft!! I didn't use a pattern, I just alternated rows of single and double croquet. After I finished I threaded a blue ribbon around the edges and tied bows at the corners. The blanket is about the size of a large receiving blanket. My little man really likes his blankie. The lighting in this first picture is kind of bad the colors are more true in the second picture. Here's the blanket with "the Boss"! Isn't he a cutey!!!! Tags:blankets, crochetMood:sleepysleepy I finally finished the baby/doll blanket that I've been working on for what seems like forever (it's been very on and off). My mom says it's big enough for a newborn, but I'm a little skeptical so it might be good for a doll blanket... I ended up doing the blanket in two shades of pink because I didn't have another skein of the lighter pink. I think it turned out pretty good for my second knitting project. :D( Picture and PatternCollapse )Tags:blankets, knittingMood:accomplishedaccomplished My neice is in town.. so amongst the blankets im doing.. we got a cute carebear dress to make Julianne! I love the ones that have the pattern already laid out for you.. just need to get the color coordinating fabric to match.. =) It'll be cute once we get it done, and yes ill take pics! =)Tags:blankets, sewing Hello everyone! =) Just thought I would introduce myself and thank my friend Krissy for inviting me here, along with talking about my first finished project in a long while..My name is Sarah, Im a 23 year old, wife and mother of 1 (she's two!) and in September will be going for my third semester of college, yay!Im writing today about my fleece blanket project.. it started as a small thing for my daughter, and now I have ideas like crazy for friends, family, birthday and christmas presents alike! Ill post the picture of the finished product under a cut, but I have a comment about it and a few questions about it as well.. Firstly, It was very simple to do.. this blanket was just 1 yard of fabric.. and each end I measured and marked each centimeter and measured 10 centimeters up to cut the strips.. and voila! it was done! =)Since that was for my lil`un, I used the 1 yard.. if I was going to make one for myself (and im around 5'5) Id use two yards.. thats what the pattern I saw online called for.. its nice!my only thing is.. they did say not to cut on the selvage edges.. but, I wanted to see what it looked like with all four edges cut, so I did it anyway.. and afterwards, I realized why it might not be a good idea, they sort of.. stretch and fray a bit. Now, my husband said it did not look bad and I tried pulling on one to see if it would unravel along the whole blanket, and it didnt.. but he suggested that I just do the two ends, and not the other.. I rather like it fringed on all ends though.. will have to see how it washes to make a final decision.Has anyone worked with fleece before? and if yes, have you done something similar or have any suggestions?( Pic belowCollapse )**Thanks again nightbird for inviting me =)Tags:blankets, fleece Top of Page | |
