Hi, I'm Thistlerose.
What you'll find here: my thoughts and opinions on just about everything, from politics (I'm on the left side of the spectrum) to ... whatever is currently floating my boat (see Interests). I'm an academic librarian. I live in New Hampshire, but I grew up in New York City, and I've lived all over the place. I have two cats, whom I adore. I rarely friends lock posts; when I do it's usually because I'm talking about family or work or other personal things.
I write fan fiction. These days it's mostly Star Wars, but I still love Star Trek, DCU (animated and non-), the Buffyverse, Firefly, and a bunch of others. I write gen, het, and slash. Sometimes I write all three in the same story. I have three (ish) ratings: all ages, teen, and mature/adult.
If you're ever uncertain about something I've posted, please feel free to email me asking me for more information! I promise, as long as you're polite, I'll be friendly and accommodating. I'd hate to squick someone inadvertently. At the same time, I'm reluctant to post spoilers for my own stories.
I used to have a journal specifically for fan fiction, but I'm no longer updating 
thistlefics as of summer 2009. Quite a number of my older stories - mostly Harry Potter - are archived there, though, so it won't be deleted. Recently, I've begun migrating some of my older stories to Archive of Our Own. If there's something specific that you're looking for, and can't find it, please let me know. No guarantee I'll be able to find it, since I've moved around a lot and switched computers a few times, but I'll try!
My Friending policy is this: anyone and everyone is welcome to friend this journal. You don't need to announce yourself or ask permission, though I do love it when people stop by to say "hello." If I don't friend back, it probably isn't personal. In most cases, I won't friend anyone I know to be under 18. This is for my own protection; some of my fics are adult-themed and I don't want any irate parents on my back. Also, if you use tiny type on a regular basis and/or post large images outside a cut tag, I probably won't friend you back. I love my layout.
