“Thank you Mr. Yotsubashi! Thank you so much!” An employee from the finance department bowed repeatedly as he expressed his genuine appreciation for his boss. Rikiya smiled widely and chuckled. “Oh it’s honestly not an issue! Spending time with your family during such a pivotal moment in life should be a given. Take the entire week off and relax. We’ll split your work evenly amongst your team and I will assure you will be paid for half of the days you’re away!” His employee was near tears as he thanked him again and again for his kindness. Rikiya was going to conversate a little while longer when he’d suddenly felt his phone buzz and chime from within his pocket. “Pardon me, I must take this.” He said apologetically dismissing his employee. They scurried off somewhere else in the office as he scanned the numbers on the screen. Familiar yes, but he couldn’t put his fingers on it until he heard a voice over the line that made his heart drop.

The hospital.

You were in the hospital and the staff was calling on your behalf.

Three things happened in that moment. First, the stress marks spread across his face faster than ever. Second, he’d felt the most terrified in than moment than he ever had in his entire life. Finally, this was the first time he’d abandoned Detnerat without alerting a single person of his departure. He took off running through the large doors and decided to hail a taxi rather than to drive himself there. He knew he’d break a few traffic laws if he did end up driving himself there.

Once at his destination he tried his hardest to wrangle his emotions enough to ask what room you were in. He was only able to relax for a split second when you looked up at him from your bed and chuckled nervously. “OH THANK GOODNESS!” He fell to his knees beside the hospital bed and gripped the blankets while trying to gather his shaky breathing. You were hurt yes. It was apparent by the multiple casting on your body. But you were also alive and he couldn’t feel any more relieved at that. “Haha, sorry Rikiya.” You apologized and carefully raised your good hand to gently wipe the tears from his face. “I kinda messed your favorite car up today. I got into a wreck. It all happened so fast really. I don’t remember too much but I saw the damage and it’s totaled.” He stared incredulously at you. “Apologizing? You’re laying in a hospital bed hurting and you’re apologizing to me for it? My love do not be foolish!” He laughed. “Do not apologize for anything! The car can be replaced but you cannot. I am so thankful that you’re okay. I don’t know what I would do without you Y/N.” There was nothing more you could do to stop the tears running from his eyes again as he repeatedly kissed you.

For the next couple of days you’d seen more of him than you did of the hospital staff. They tried a couple of times to remove him from the room but he simply wasn’t having it. Being a well known figure of power within Deika AND the leader of the MLA movement paved way for a lot of things most people couldn’t do themselves. This included hanging the workers jobs over their own heads every time they asked him to leave the room. He felt a little guilty about having to threaten kind innocent citizens but there was no way in hell he would leave your side at the moment. Pretty soon he began waiting on you hand and foot. There were some things you had to force him to not do for you (I.E personal things like using the bedpan) and he obeyed when it was you banishing him from the room of course. Rikiya made sure to do anything and everything you asked of him and more. He would bring you whatever food or drink you wanted which was nice considering the hospital food wasn’t exactly what you craved during your bedrest. He would talk to you, watch the boring hospital TV for you. Rikiya would literally sit by your side day and night as he barely got any sleep for himself. He missed quite a few days of work but it was understandable to all of his employees as well as the other MLA members.

They’d come to see you on the day you and Rikiya were allowed to leave the hospital.

At home he’s no different in his attentiveness. He’d sit by your side and nurse you back to health for as long as he needed to do so. He even began working from home in the back room office, taking short breaks to check up on you. This continued up until you were good enough to walk on crutches. Even so, he kept on taking care of you until he felt it was finally time to relax.
