Flag verbatim from jducoeur's LJ What is the sound of a Jaegermonster launched to America by electric catapult? How many litter boxes are required by an invading army of cats? Can TransPolyU's Drama Department cause the spontaneous creation of new timelines, through the scientific application of bad acting? And what is the secret of the Hidden Castle? These questions and more might (but probably won't) be answered in Girl Genius: Agatha Heterodyne and the Perfect Construct! This four-hour LARP was originally run (twice) at Intercon G, and was a fine romp. Next year, as part of Anna and Becky's fundraising for the Komen 3-Day Walk, we will be re-running it. The game will take place on Sunday May 6th at Camelot. The game is for 27 players (tentatively, pending rewrites); we hope to do two runs. We'll be talking it up steadily in the coming months, but I encourage folks to put it on their calendars, and sign up as soon as you are able, at http://arbradley.net/collectInfo.html. Casting will begin in a few months, with an eye towards giving those who are interested a couple of months for costuming.Spread the word, and hope to see you there...Tags: 3day, larp

Flag It is that time again Next summer, July 2012, ladysprite and I will be taking part in the Susan G. Komen 3-Day for the Cure, walking 60 miles to raise money and awareness for breast cancer research. This means, among other things, that we each need to raise $5000 by then.I know it sounds like a lot of money, but i know a lot of people, and if everyone i know gave even a small amount, we could reach our goal. The economy sucks, i know, but to quote a friend, you know what else sucks? Cancer. It sucks a whole lot. It sucks so much that people die, people lose friends, relatives, loved ones, even strangers. And every little bit helps. Even the little bit that you can give.I am no doctor, and i am no scientist. I can't find a cure. But i can put one foot in front of the other, and i can walk, and i can beg for donations on my LJ. I can throw money at the problem, and if we all do that, it will give resources to the ones who are doctors and scientists, those who can help. Please, donate if you can. Pass the word around, too, if you know anyone else who may want to contribute.http://www.the3day.org/goto/annacureThank you all so much - for reading, whether you can donate or not.Tags: 3day, cancer, jane, shadow, walk

There are women in them! And many of them have unbound, loose hair! Several ankles may be seen! If you look carefully you may even spot a shin! The calendars go from April 2010 to March 2011, so none of the year is missed. Major SCA events listed on the EK Events page were added into the calendars. Get your copy soon!you can get the calendars from me at Crown Tourney, or at subsequent events. you can also get them online at http://tinyurl.com/medievalundies however, be it known that their majesties benefit is greater if calendars are purchased from us directly (plus, no shipping charges):)-Constance

Flag Vote it is almost that time. in MA the deadline is 10/16. I don't care who you vote for, i never have. but go, vote. THIS is your right, your responsibility, your show of patriotism. THIS is sacred. THIS is what people died for, died so you could have this privilidge, this right, this duty.Vote.Millions around the world are not as fortunate as you. They can't vote. THIS is the duty of the free world, the first word, of America. THIS is what it is ALL about.Register to vote. Now. Today. Tonight. Now. Vote. Vote with your heart, your mind, your logic, your party, your parents, your conscience. It doesn't matter who you vote for. And it doesn't matter why you picked them. It doesn't matter if in your state your vote is wasted. It doesn't matter if you hate the electoral college. That isn't what is important. What is important is that you go, and you vote. For yourself. And for all those who can't. And for all those who sacrificed and died to give you the right. And for all those who will come after you. Vote.

Flag Mt Washington Mt_washington Originally uploaded by constancedsd. We made it. It took us forever and a day because by the end there was a pulled muscle and an acting up hip joint and general omg tiredness, but we made it.I do not remember what i thought from the top of the mountain last time. it was about 10 years ago.this time... the usual thoughts of how insignificant we all are, how majestic nature is and so on filled my mind as usuals. and by the time we were at the actual summit, mostly i just wanted to get down off hte mountain and into some nice place for dinner. But something like 0.12 miles from the summit, where i could see it just fine, and new that it was just one tiny push more, i turned around, as i had bee doing for a bit, to look down.one Flicker posts this, i will go and change the default icon of this post to be the one that says "stand before god" because i was. it was one of those moments that people write about. i had it before, several times. a moment where with no doubt and no unsurety i know that not only does god exist but he is focusing attention on this mountain and on me right now, for a tiny brief part of a second, god was there.so yes, it is a mountain. it is damned tall, and it was a relatively difficult hike. and we did it, with minimal whining, and minimal injuries and minimal drama. i am very very proud of ladysprite, this was her first real hike, and that is quite an accomplishment.
