I'm home! it feels so good to me home but I'm exhausted. I woke up at 2 am and couldn't go back to sleep and I got into the hotel late. I also had a late dinner (hey I did get a $50 voucher) I gues it's going to take a while to adapt to the sleeping schedule. For those of you not facebook friends Etihad delayed it's flight due to "Medical reasons" (whatever that is, it happened three times) so I missed my domestic connection. But they paid for a night in an amazing hotel by the airport so it could be worse. I have friends who were forced to spend the night at the airport!It feels good to be home and to no longer have to live off a suitcase, or have late dinners and get up early (why Globus, why?) but it was sad saying goodbye to everyone, it's amazing how we all clicked and became great friends. I have 34 new friends because of this tour and got to tick off a few things from my bucket list and see places I've always wanted to go to and have great memories, so the money was well worth it. It's the people who help make the experience amazing, just like with work it's the people you work with who help make it a great place to work in and the kind of place you look forward to going to. I'm still glad I have a week off though.

I can't believe it snuck up on me, my next holiday is almost upon me. It seemed so far away when I booked it, like it was just something to look forward to and something to save up for and now it's here. It's so real. In just a few hours I will be on an Etihad jet. Everything is ready now. There was a last minute search for a usb cable for my digital camera so I wouldn't have to buy a new one (I already bought Bosc noise cancelation headphones and a new laptop to write on for my trip) but I found it so I can use the camera my brother got me so that's it. I have also given this link to work friends and online friends so you can all look forward to updates with amazing pics of where I've been and what I've been up to.

To get some insight about a long European roadtrip that my boyfriend and I are taking next year.5. List some of your hobbies/interests. Travel, volunteering, nursing, dogs.6. What kind of person are you? How would you describe yourself? I think that's difficult. I have Wanderlust, that I can tell you, and I hate staying in one place for too long. I mean, I want to have a home to come back to (and since we have a roommate, that won't be a problem as she'll keep the house up when we're gone), but I want to travel everywhere.7. Lastly, where are the places you would like to visit in your lifetime? Before I switched to nursing, I was an East Asian studies major with foci in Japanese language and North Korea history, so I definitely want to hit up both of those countries. I also want to go to India in a bad, bad way, and I'd like to explore more of West Africa than I have (I've only been to Ghana and Togo). A big place my boyfriend and I both want to go to is the Ukraine to see Pripyat.

I'm going to be traveling to Iceland for a short trip from January 29th to February 1st. Obviously, with such a short time, I'm limited as far as what I'll be able to see. I'm going to be staying in Reykjavik, so I'm looking for some day tours. So far, I'm thinking of a tour of the South shore which would be one full day, and definitely one of the Golden Circle tours. And I plan on booking a Northern Lights tour for the first night. My question is, does anyone know if you can get away with doing one of the Golden Circle express tours, or if it's really better to do the full day tour? I'm debating on doing a combo tour, but I want to make sure I don't skimp on the Golden Circle too much.My main focus of the trip is nature, and photography, so any suggestions for "must see" tours or sites are appreciated.Thanks!

[ **mood** | bored ] Hello! I'm currently living in Australia (Orange, New South Wales to be exact) but I am from Seattle, Washington born and raised... I'm working on these two notebooks. I've gotten one set back, the first set and it turned out amazing. I'm doing different ones for Australia/New Zealand and America/Canada as well as an all around international version of the notebooks.I'm looking for people all over the world to help me out, it's kind of a "guide to" your country, city, what it's like to live there, a postcard or something, drawings, recipes, pretty much whatever you'd like to put in the notebook with a little bit about yourself. Then you pass it onto the next person. There's currently one notebook going to each continent, 3 of the sets are traveling (to Africa, South America and Asia) and there's notebooks (two sets) going around the US, and one set in Canada and Australia. Let me know if you'd like to help me out with these notebooks. They travel together and one is for my son (when he grows up) and one is for my brother who is interested in the world...Kind of a surprise thing, I know he'll love the first version I want to surprise him with more. Hi everybody,It might happen that this summer I'll have to spend 2-4 weeks in Pisa, Italy. I need a place to stay, something not too expensive, preferably, where I can cook my own food and be within a walking distance from the University of Pisa. What options do I have in terms of hotels or rental apartments? I'll appreciate your suggestions.

I posted a couple of weeks ago asking about safaris (thanks again to those who responded!), and here I am again with more questions. We've decided on visiting Kenya, and adding a short trip to Zanzibar. My big issue right now is that, I'm looking at 2 different itineraries.One includes Amboseli National ParkOne includes Samburu Game ReserveSo my question is, **does anyone who's been to both Amboseli and Samburu have an opinion on which one is the better to visit?**As an amateur photographer, Amboseli appeals to me for the obvious reason of the Kilimanjaro backdrop. But I've also heard really great things about Samburu. Also, does anyone have any idea what the drive to and from Samburu is like? I heard it was something like 8 hours, so that could be a factor in our choice. Thanks in advance!

My wife and I are planning on going on our last big vacation for a little while, so we're looking to make it a good one. Right now it looks like an African safari trip is on the top of the list. I was just wondering about a few things, and I'm hoping some of you might have some advice.Has anyone gone on an African safari using Friendly Planet? We booked with them for a trip to Egypt, and it was pretty good. A little rushed at times, but a good experience nonetheless. They seem to have some good deals for other parts of Africa. Does anyone have any opinions on where and when is best to go? We're leaning heavily towards Friendly Planet's Kenya Safari, booking sometime between June - September. It's the best time for us, and we figure it'll give us a shot at seeing the Great Migration.We had also considered the South Africa trip, but it seems to have too much city stuff going on, and we're more interested in the wildlife and maybe visiting some small villages. We're not looking for all-out camping, but we like the idea of the lodges. Tanzania is also on our list, but the trips that I've seen look like they're just a bit over budget. We'd like to keep it as far under $4k per person as possible, including airfare. The Friendly Planet trip seems to be one of the few that will allow that. **Are there any other African destinations that we might be overlooking (in our price range)?**Thanks in advance for any advice and opinions. As an aside, our other options are their Ecuador & Galapagos Islands trip, or possibly Japan. But we're really feeling strongly about Africa so far.

Sorry if this isn't totally relevant here, but I was wondering what methods some of my fellow travelers have used to learn a language. My wife and I recently went to Peru, and were kind of ashamed to be among the few people we encountered who were monolingual. Our one guide said that it's fairly common, in his experience, for people from English speaking countries to speak only English. But we decided that we'd like to at least try to learn another language and Latin American Spanish makes the most sense for us. We both studied it some in high school, and know a tiny bit. It's also widely spoken in our area. Rosetta Stone seems to be the popular choice, but it's cost and a few bad reviews have left us a bit apprehensive about pulling the trigger on that purchase. Have any of you had good experiences with it?If not, do you have any other recommendations?Thanks!

Hey Everyone!2 questions:I'm going to live in Buenos Aires, Argentina for an internship from June 21st-July 23rd-ish.... so I was looking for an apt, and the law firm I'm going to reccomended one, that looked gorgeous but was WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY more than I even pay for my apartment in Boston!!!I think that's kind of ridiculous....!Do any of you have any ideas on how to find decent/cheaper living? Even craigslists' prices seem to be through the roof. (I'm poor because of law school and question #2 ;-p...)I need to be able to get to the Financial District very easily (preferrebly walking?)And I've heard that Barrio Norte- Recoleta is a nice place...Sooooooooooo clueless, so anything will help!-----------------------------------------------------Before going to Argentina, I'm going to backpack around Europe for a month.A friend and I are going to London on the 24th. We need to make our way to Amsterdam by the 27th to meet up w/ another friend... and then we plan on travelling to the following cities:Stockholm-->budapest-->prague--> berlin/frankfurt-->sicily (we need to be here around 5/10)--> Paris& then our flights leave from london on 5/20.1. Ryanair doesn't travel from london--> amsterdam... anyone know of a cheap way to get there?2. Is this list of cities a little tooooo crazy? My friends want to go to Poland too, but I don't think we have time for it and I also think that it will make us travel in circles.The only cities we NEED to go to are London, Amsterdam, Frankfurt (to visit my travelling partner's grandma) & Sicily (to visit my grandma! ;-)!). My wife and I are trying to book a trip to Peru / Macchu Pichu. We're looking to go sometime between August - October, probably for 11 nights or so. So far, we're hard set on doing the trek up the Inca Trail. We'd like to spend one night at a hotel up at Macchu Pichu, so we can shower, relax, and get up bright and early to see the sunrise. We're also looking to spend 2 nights in Lima, 2 nights in Cuzco, and 2 - 3 nights on a jungle excursion (probably Iquitos). I was just wondering if anyone had any opinions or advice as far as which tour groups are best, or what else we should see or do. The time in Lima and Cuzco will be pretty much free time, so we'd be open to suggestions of things to do there. And if there's something else that we really shouldn't miss, I'd love to hear about it. The only major thing that we wanted to see that we just can't fit into our budget is the Nazca Lines. But I'd love to hear from some of you about your experiences, opinions, and suggestions.Thanks!

Heyall! I'll be going to Manila and staying in Makati. There are a few places I would like visit including, Animal House, Quiapo (Quinta Market, Ilalim ng Tulay, Photographers' Haven), the Cartimar Market in Pasay, Baclaran Flea Market, 168 Mall in Divisoria, Tutuban Center, Chinatown, Evangelista Street (Flea markets and Fat Michael's!).... Now, despite searching for maps and info online, I still can't be sure if I could do all these places (and visit any churches which are in the vicinity of those places) within 2 days. I'll be staying there for only 3 days and 2 nights... Are the places I mentioned pretty near each other? I guess I could just cab it everywhere, but I would like the make the best of each spot, so if it's not possible to go through the list, I'd like to just prioritise and experience a few spot fully instead. Any advice? x-posted
