Well, this is it.

I'm sure all of you have heard of the latest debacle. You've probably also heard that we haven't had any reply back. My Dreamwidth account is up and ready to go, so this is my last post. I'll be keeping track of my flist (DW is working on integration, yay that), and I hope I can entice a few of you to follow, but I know I won't be able to. You'll see me hanging around here and there, no doubt.

Before I leave, I'd like to explain why I've made this decision.

None of my posts are being removed, and tsukinoniwa is still up, so if you have links to my fanfic, those will remain as long as LJ does. New fanfic of mine will be posted under my name at Archive of Our Own. My personal journal will be on DW.

No, I'm not really back, but I thought you all might want to see some important information.

1. LJ Staff Member outed as a troll. getyourownbitch accidentally outed hirself as brenden in the latest news post. Comments (and evidence) subsequently deleted, but the link up there copypasta's from the email of the trolled user.
2. Another LJ Staff Member posted creepy comments in a flocked post ze should not have been accessing. TL;DR dnewhall trolled a user's locked content. Ze has apologized in a news thread, but claims the entry was public.

Just thought y'all might want to know.

I've updated my AO3 account as much as I'm willing to. I am just not posting a bajillion ancient badfics from the days of yore. The only things I can't manage to get up there are Betwixt and Without Irony. AO3 doesn't like my formatting. *tear* Meanwhile, the fic comm has had its final post, a sticky pointing people to AO3. That's really all I can do until LJ shows their cards. So, what'll it be, LJ? Send me running for the hills, or keeping my crossposts?

I'm a bit behind on my email. D: Sorry, y'all. I'll catch up soon, I promise.

In more depressing news, got disowned. Again. This time with instructions not to contact Dad again. (sigh) And also a suggestion to seek counseling &/or medication, but that's the standard reply when someone holds their ground against him. I just... gah. Better this way, I suppose. Even if he doesn't change his mind, at least I'm done with the roller coaster.

Well, LJ, it's been fun. :\ But I've decided that I don't like the way this is going. Even if the FB/Twit thing is completely rolled back, it's just going to get more and more "social network" and less "online journal with social touches". I don't Social Network for many reasons, and so it's time to abandon ship. The only things keeping me are my flist and a very few communities. This week, I'm going to concentrate on moving ALL THE THINGS to AO3 on tsukinoniwa, and I'll probably be using that as my main fanfic archive from now on.

Depending on how this rolls, I may continue cross-posting, but comments on this end will be locked. If LJ doesn't roll back the Twitbook, I'll put up a sticky post and just leave it be. Probably will still follow my flist for a while, because I loves you all my Preciouses, but I'm looking to lure everyone over to DW.

That being said, thus begins my enticing!

How upset are you about the LJ/Facebook/Twitter debacle, with 1 being "didn't know anything was up" and 10 "BRB leaving LJ forever"?

:\ I don't think I'm going to post my usual meta today. I'm still thinking about it, but the way my writing meta usually works is to lock down the copy at DW, so that the LJ post is the "live" version. With LJ's latest shenanigans, I am seriously reconsidering that mode of operation. As in, I may reverse course and lock down the LJ side, then link to DW. But that would be massively inconvenient for my usual audience (people on cap_ironman). Currently, I do not want to ship traffic to LJ at all, and so... No meta, until LJ shows its cards. *sigh*

If anyone wants to hide that rawr-worthy Twitter/FB crosspost option on LJ comments, just copypasta this into your CSS layout code. It won't save you if they've loaded in ?style=mine or ?format=light but it's something.

Arrow! Sheriff Joe Arpaio is being sued by the US Justice Department. This gives me warm fuzzies. I would cheer were that man to be thrown into one of his own tent-city prisons. (Which is not happening, I know, but a girl can dream.)

Okay, I'll stop with the quicky updates and speak actual words. Lately, I have been getting a lot of joy out of scanning the comments on The Colbert Report Website for people who take Stephen seriously. Mostly, I get my joy out of vegitating, because I have no ability to do anything other than the most basic of my duties. The instructors, you see, are actually Zombies. Right now, my brain is being digested by a history prof three buildings away.

Writing actually got done yesterday! Amazing lol. I'm sure it'll pick up again once I've had a chance to catch up on my sleep. @-@ Exhaustion does not lend well to creativity.

The Daddy drama of a month ago continues in silence. He hasn't tried to call or write, thank goodness. Mom reports that he regularly looks over the emails I've sent that explain my grievances, but is confused by them. This is probably all for the best. (heavy sigh)

Hypothetically, I will have a Papa at home with me this Labor Day. \o/ (Please please please don't let anything go wrong again.)

You've probably seen this in a million places from other people but...

Please don't crosspost anything of mine to Facebook. Twitter, fine, go for it, because I don't connect RL/family/work to Twitter. But Facebook... D: EEK.

I don't have a Facebook (or MySpace, etc) for a reason. To me, the mixing of public (family & work) and private (internet and friends) is supremely creepy. (What? I grew up in the 90s. Giving out RL info online was the giant "HOMG NOOOOOO" paranoia of that decade, and it stuck.) I can't think of any way that it would cause me serious issues, but I'd rather keep that line firm, okay? I am not going to put myself in the position of having a "this is what we don't talk about on these websites" discussion.

Hello, internet! A few quick updates. Because I am lazy, they are in bullet form.

• Valtyr won 5k words off of me at help_pakistan!
• Blame Valtyr for this.
• Papa came home for a test run. We still have a long way to go with him. :(
• Related to above, I am urging Mary to sue the rehab place that Papa is at. He's coming out worse than he went in, and he is not as recovered as he should be because they have been playing Shenanigans.
• Spent much of the weekend cleaning, when I wasn't working with Papa.
• We finally got a new TV to replace the 30 year old one! In accordance with the laws of balance, our microwave broke immediately thereafter.
• I have gotten.. IDK, maybe five hours of sleep in the last 72?

And thus went my weekend.

Point of View and perspective are vital to story telling. It's possible to write a story where the PoV character isn't there for major plot movements, but it means some complicated plot weaving to avoid Telling more than Showing. The plot in that sort of arrangement is one where the lack of information is the point of tension. (A classic mystery is an example of one of these and omg I sound like my last history professor ABORT ABORT.) Perspective choices change the immediacy of a story, and can have a huge impact on the style and tone. Tenses have a subtler impact, but can also affect things.

These three topics could probably each have their own larger post, but they work together so closely that a lot of the information would be redundant. These choices should be made at roughly the same time, and tend to be made for roughly the same reasons, so I think it's probably best to group them all together.
