Street names (odonyms) constitute a prominent feature of a city's linguistic landscape and they are associated with a particular nation in geo-linguistics. As a result, certain political regimes using their authority, influence/change/or do not accept changes in the existing street names and designations. Language itself is a marker of the identity of a group of people and as such carries a symbolic value, especially in cases where two languages are identified with two national communities, which due to several reasons may be in a "conflict". In such situations, state authorities tend to influence in favour of that group that constitutes the dominant part of the nation, giving priority to the language of this group. In general terms, this is also the context in...

It empowers the child and prepares them to face life in the best way. The right to education is seen as a prerequisite to the exercise of other human rights. It can be said that an individual deprived of basic education, not only cannot exercise the rights attributed to them, but also cannot seek their protection. Thus, the right to education is considered to be an instrument to realize every human right, turning it into a pure empowerment right (Tomasevski, U.N. Doc E/CN 4/2001/52, par. 11-14). As such it is reflected in a set of international acts adopted globally. However, its implementation has been imperfect in the current reality, which, in a rapidly changing world, requires the adaptation of the right to education to different needs of children. This requires appropriate policies and legislation to provide inclusive education especially for the disadvantaged groups. The article focuses on an ...

The literature of this author passes from the traditional writing to the narrative forms of magical realism, and unfolds an imagination which shows how the reality of this world cannot be separated from the mystery of our daily existence. Also, we will analyse if there is a connection between Buzzati’s literary vision and the metaphysical debate on the existence of God. These research questions, aim to highlight the fact that the most obvious novelty of Dino Buzzati's literature should be summarized in the assessment that all the echoes of Death in his works are described with humor and self-irony, ranging from jokes to punitive and apocalyptic sarcasm. Death is shrouded in the allegory of the "receiving the call"; sooner or later it knocks on the door of every human...

The contacts of Albanian language with the Italian one are ancient; these contacts have become de... more The contacts of Albanian language with the Italian one are ancient; these contacts have become deeper starting from the seventeenth century and onwards. These contacts are related mostly with the culture of faith. As a necessity to translate the bible from Latin, also from Italian, into the Albanian language, there are compiled a lot of grammar books and dictionaries, notably Italian-Albanian dictionaries. Thus, at the beginning of eighteenth century, over 300 years ago, Da Lecce compiled not only an Albanian grammar, but also an Albanian-Italian dictionary. Twentieth century indicates the peak of these contacts. The exposure of Albania towards the Italian culture and heredity in the years '20, '30, made possible the opportunity to have distinguished Albanian authors to bring into Albanian language the top of Latin and Italian literature. This way the Albanian language responded to these languages with all its lexical semantic power and syntactical agility, showing an unimaginable creative ability. An aspect of this confrontation, of the creative, connotative and expressive ability of Albanian language is also shown in phraseological units. In our article we are focused on the Albanian-Italian phraseological confrontation. The material is mainly harviest from Italian-Albanian Phraseological Dictionary, compiled by Naim Balla, Eshref Ymeri e Irena Ndoci, because is the bigest phraseological dictionary with almost 20 000 units.

This research will analyse Albanian legislation and policies as regards the educational system, shedding light on the steps needed to be taken towards achieving international standards regarding the promotion of the participation of children and parents in education. Albania was under a communist regime, in which parental participation in the educational system was extremely limited and information given to parents was only regarding the progress of their child. After the fall of this monist regime changes did not happen immediately in the Albanian education system. The Convention on the Rights of the Child was one of the first international instruments ratified by the Albanian government focusing on ...

It analyses the positive impact through which peace pedagogy can be integrated across curricula aiming at inducing peace through learning about human rights, values and skills. Various legal documents with an emphasis on education outline the idea that educating young people on human rights is a benefit for both individuals and society. The curriculum should therefore be oriented towards the teaching of rights, as an effective way of instilling the concept of peace and nonviolence into all subject areas and learning environments. UNESCO’s four pillars of learning include, among others, learning to live together, which is central to the development of understanding, consideration, and respect for others. It serves as the basis for ongoing peaceful coexistence. For this reason, governments of different countries have included human rights education in their...

On the other hand, global crises such as pandemic have not been in the international agenda, in order to think and discuss possible ways towards enjoying the same rights as in normal day life. Both approaches lead towards finding the alternatives in providing the right to education, where the lack of the teaching process in the classroom, brings to light online learning as a means to continue the implementation of the right to education. The article discusses the legal framework on the Albanian pre-university education regarding the online learning, as an acute need to provide education while schools are closed. It shares the methods of offering the remote teaching where the online learning is amongst these approaches. The article treats the challenges found during the online learning from the technological point of view, the cu...

Albanian people who speak English are increasing day by day, but most of them show deficiency in their English when it comes to using it in their profession, in regard to their area of expertise. Most of the Albanians learn English at school, then at university level they learn English for specific purpose. Therefore, the universities must make an effort into providing the students with the right textbook (from all the available ones existing in the market), to be used in their tertiary level of studies. This would facilitate the learning process for the students because they will learn and expand their vocabulary in the area they are actually majoring in. Ado...
