However, the problem here is independent of the number of investigations; what matters most is the lack of systematic soundings either above or underground. During the period 2019-2022, Bab Agnaou has undergone major restoration work, which has justified two excavation operations preceded and accompanied by occasional observations. Their objective was to identify the chrono-stratigraphic context at the scale of the monumental gate and its bordering zone, to better understand its spatial organization, its function in its original state and the roles that fell to it through the history and finally to provide a guarantee of reliability to the restoration project. The results obtained have already provided a considerable harvest of archaeological information; yet a preliminary assessment is necessary.

Beyond shedding new light on the historical origin of this complex, its material attributes and its spatial organization, this article looks at the whole story of the resilience and mutations of an ancestral site of the leather industry in Rabat.

This specificity is not only due to their unusual destiny but also to the itinerancy which was imposed upon them after their death. This contribution should constitute a starting point to elaborate on the debate regarding certain customs surrounding death observed in medieval Morocco. Such a discussion on potential post mortem mobility requires to be analyzed outside anthropological studies where the subject has already been well developed.

This article synthesizes the results of a survey maintained according to a historico- archaeological approach, and according to the findings of three case studies (Ṣla Shelomo Ibn Danān, from al-Fāssiyyīn and Ṣla from Mimūn Mansāno): the opportunity to discover another facet of moroccan religious architecture, but also the tangible remains of the jewish cultural heritage in Fez.

spatial inscription in a large city like Fez, with a view to anticipating the
hasty assimilations by which all the problems related to the history of the
Jews of Morocco are interpreted. We adopted an approach combining the
identification of the ancient Jewish presence in Fez and the questioning of the
urban identity of the Mellah: the morphology of this ethnically and culturally
particular neighborhood, the physical elements that constitute it, the multiple
interactions which connect it with its environment, and the principles
applicable in its edification.
