El simposio de fonología del Primer coloquio AMAZONICAS, que tuvo lugar en Manaus en 2007, se focalizó en este tema (Bruno et al., 2008). Las propiedades excepcionales de la armonía nasal en fonologías amazónicas han llamado la atención de lingüistas de terreno y han sido analizadas dentro de modelos teóricos distintos.

However, while this claim does work in the syntax, it creates problems in the morphology. For example, characterizing the well-known “spurious se effect” in Spanish simply cannot be done without reference to 3rd person.

However, Scheer's goal in this book is to develop a new and innovative model of phonological structure which relies on “laterality not arborescence”. In other words, the explanation that is otherwise afforded by constituents such as syllable, onset, nucleus, and rime is to be replaced by sets of pairwise relations between segments, the most important of which is the rightto-left acting government relation.

One group of speakers, on whom we focus here, showed an Opaque pattern, in which nasalization over-applied in the reduplicative language game Li'ngua do Pefl but under-applied in the infixing language game Li'ngua do Ki.

We provide here a full analysis of the morphology of present indicative auxiliary verbs in Zamudio Basque, a Bizkaian dialect that is representative of the ones we discuss in that paper. 1 The data are from Gaminde (2000).

The digital workbook incorporates multimedia into interactive lessons and exercises that accommodate students with diverse learning styles. Keywords: Language Teaching, Portuguese, Phonetics and Phonology, Mid-vowel Contrasts, Information Technology.

In addition, we would like to highlight three areas in which the theory may benefit from refinement and suggest possible avenues for future research.

Subjects were screened for mastery of standard Hindi agreement morphology and fl uency in reading the Hindi Devanagari script. Speakers of non-standard Hindi dialects or who lacked the reading fl uency to comprehend Hindi sentences in an RSVP paradigm were excluded based on errors in off-line pre-test. In doing so we present an illustration of the theory of Distributed Morphology and the rules of phonology that obscure a fairly regular and well-structured syntacticallygenerated auxiliary complex.

While Evans & Levinson (E&L) focus mostly on substantive variation in language, equally revealing insights can come from studying formal universals. I first discuss how Artificial Grammar Experiments can test universal preferences for certain types of abstract phonological generalizations over others.
