- Why do penguins stay in pairs? 🐧🐧 Freezer crowd! ❄️ Did you know that many penguins are monogamous? They usually pair up for a whole breeding season – sometimes even for life! Even sweeter? Male penguins often gift female penguins with rocks in order to woo them, which the ladies use to build a nest. We have partnered with McVitie's Penguin to connect more families with wildlife. Focused around the sponsorship of our iconic Penguin Beach, this exciting partnership brings fun facts to new audiences through an engaging on-pack promotion - enhancing the famous joke on the back of McVitie's Penguin biscuit wrappers with a fascinating fact from the zoo's penguin keepers. Building knowledge and understanding about animals is the first step to appreciating and protecting them - this exciting joint venture hopes to inspire more children to care for our planet, while also helping to fund ZSL's vital conservation work.

Skew teamed up with London Zoo to design their first-ever children's style guide for the launch of their new licensing programme. “We’re able to tell these wonderful stories about what we do, through the style guides that we have from Skew. And we’re now having conversations with retailers that we may not have ordinarily been able to engage with.” - Lee Duffy, Head of Commercial at ZSL London Zoo is part of the Zoological Society of London (ZSL), a global conservation charity. Throughout its history, ZSL has been a pioneer in conservation science, advocating for wildlife. They are working globally to save endangered species, restore ecosystems, and inspire support for nature all driven by world-leading science. Exploring the Brief: Skew’s challenge was to tell the story of London Zoo and ZSL through their first style guide to be created for licensees and retailers. The team produced a comprehensive resource to spark creativity and unlock partnerships. We worked collaboratively to select a variety of endangered animals from around the globe. Our aim was to use the stories of these animals to engage and connect with the conservationists of tomorrow. Zoo-perb Results: Skew produced bespoke illustrations, fonts, slogans, colour palettes, prints, product mock-ups and a full packaging range to ensure partners have the creatives they need to produce commercial ranges that are guaranteed to be a roaring success 🐯 Read the full case study herehttps://lnkd.in/ePjp868fIf you're interested in exploring brand licensing opportunities or utilising these creative assets, please contact brandlicensing@zsl.org. Earlier today, @WRTIKenya Director Dr Patrick Omondi hosted a team from the Zoological Society of London (ZSL) led by the Director of Conservation and Policy Dr Andrew Terry and ZSL-Kenya Country Director, Gurveena Ghataure. They had fruitful engagement in areas of collaboration and partnership in wildlife research and training. Dr Omondi highlighted the Institute’s mandate in coordinating wildlife research in support of evidence-based policymaking. He further noted that the ongoing establishment of the National Wildlife Database will support data storage and retrieval for informed decision-making. Dr Andrew underscored the rich legacy of ZSL in conservation and their new strategic framework based on species protection, habitat recovery, training and capacity building, and creating change. ZSL has been engaged in wildlife conservation programs in Kenya including the monitoring of wild dogs and cheetahs. The two institutions are partnering in several projects including a planned international training for wildlife veterinary experts and a capacity-building program for Wildlife rangers. In attendance were Deputy Director-Training Dr Roselyn Onyuro, Senior Principal Research Scientist Dr Francis Gakuya and Principal Research Scientist Dr Joseph Mukeka. - The war memorial at London Zoo was unveiled in 1919 to commemorate 12 members of staff who lost their lives in active service during The Great War of 1914-1918, later to become know as World War One. Today at 11am, our staff will gather at each of our Zoos to pay our respects not just to our former staff, but to all those who serve, past and present - and take a moment of silence to say thank you to the generations who changed our world.
