This study aims to investigate the factors associated with disturbed EAB and the mediating roles of overcompensation and avoidance coping styles in the relationship between different types of parenting styles and disturbed EAB among patients with FED. Methods A total of 102 patients with FED in Zahedan, Iran, participating in this cross-sectional study (from April to March 2022) completed a sociodemographic information form and self-report measures of parenting styles, maladaptive coping styles, and EAB. Model 4 of Hayes’ PROCESS macro in SPSS was employed to identify and explain the mechanism or process that underlies an observed relationship between study variables. Results The resu...

The aim of this study is to investigate the effectiveness of the group positive psychotherapy on elevation of life satisfaction and quality of life in infertile women. MATERIALS AND METHODS In a randomized trial study, Beck Depression Inventory II (BDI-II) and clinical interview were used in a pre-test post-test control group design. After analyzing the result of the questionnaire, 36 infertile women who showed signs of mild to moderate depression were randomly placed into two following groups: control (n=18) and intervention (n=18). Before the treatment, the members of both groups answered BDI-II, Satisfaction With Life Scale (SWLS) and 12 item Short Form Health Survey (SF-12). The intervention group received six sessions of group positive psychotherapy, but the treatment of the control group began six weeks after the ...

Objectives: The present study aimed to explore the role of character strengths, emotions, and resilience in predicting job stress in a sample of Iranian military personnel. Methods: This cross-sectional study recruited a total number of 146 military personnel via convenience sampling and administered the Health and Safety Executive Stress Questionnaire, Conner-Davidson Resilience Scale, Values in Action Inventory of Strengths, and Positive and Negative Affect Schedule. The correlation analysis and stepwise linear regression were performed using SPSS22. Results: Job stress was negatively associated with resilience, positive emotions, and character strengths and positively associated with negative emotions (P < 0.001). To this end, 36 infertile women were divided into two groups of control and intervention, 18 in each group. The intervention group received six weeks of positive psychotherapy, but the control group's treatment was delayed by six weeks. To gather the data, the Beck depression Inventory II (BDI-II) and Oxford happiness Inventory (OHI) were used. The result demonstrated that, the decline of depression was more in the intervention group than the control group. In addition to this finding, the result also showed that the increase of happiness was higher in the intervention group in comparison to the control one. Therefore, it could be deduced that the positive psychotherapy could be used to treat the infertile women's depression and elevate their happiness.

Beside the direct effects of infertility, other factors could affect the happiness level of the infertile women. This study was conducted to investigate these factors. In this descriptive-analytic study, a total of 130 women who visited our center in Kermanshah, Iran, were selected by using convenience sampling method. Demographic data questionnaire, the Spiritual Intelligence Self-Report Inventory (sisri-24), Oxford happiness inventory (OHI) and Satisfaction with life scale (SWLS) were used to collect the data. In this study, the mean score for happiness level of the infertile women was found to be 30.98. The results, also, showed that there is a positive significant correlation between happiness with income, wife and the husband's education level, life satisfaction and spiritual intelligence and its three subscales. Moreover, a significant but negative correlation was found to exist between the length of the infertility period and the happiness level of these women. Finally, the education level factor was found to be the most effective in predicting the happiness level of the infertile women. Based on the findings of this study, the happiness level of the infertile women was lower than the rest of the population within the society. Considering the fact that some factors affects the happiness level of these people; therefore, interventions which could target these factors could increase these women's happiness level.

Regression analysis revealed that three variables, including resilience, courage, and negative emotions could predict 57% of the variance in job stress (Adj. R2 = 0.57, P < 0.001).
Conclusions: Higher resilience and courage are associated with lower job stress. Also, negative emotions such as anger, guilt, and anxiety would contribute to higher job stress. Providing training courses to develop and boost resilience and courage and manage negative emotions can offset the negative effects of job stress on military personnel. Also, considering these factors as recruitment criteria would lead to the enlistment of cadets who may be more resilient to stress.

Although preliminary studies support the roles of unhealthy parenting styles and maladaptive coping styles in increasing rates of disturbed eating attitudes and behaviors (EAB) and clinically significant feeding and eating disorders (FED), underlying mechanisms have not been well-recognized. This study aims to investigate the factors associated with disturbed EAB and the mediating roles of overcompensation and avoidance coping styles in the relationship between different types of parenting styles and disturbed EAB among patients with FED.
Methods

A total of 102 patients with FED in Zahedan, Iran, participating in this cross-sectional study (from April to March 2022) completed a sociodemographic information form and self-report measures of parenting styles, maladaptive coping styles, and EAB. Model 4 of Hayes’ PROCESS macro in SPSS was employed to identify and explain the mechanism or process that underlies an observed relationship between study variables.
Results

The results showed that authoritarian parenting style, overcompensation and avoidance coping styles, and female gender might be related to disturbed EAB. The overall hypothesis that overcompensation and avoidance coping styles mediated the effect of fathers’ and mothers’ authoritarian parenting styles on disturbed EAB was also supported.
Conclusions

Our findings highlighted the necessity of evaluating particular unhealthy parenting styles and maladaptive coping styles as the important possible risk factors in the development and maintenance of higher level of disturbance in EAB among patients with FED. However, more research is needed to explore individual, family, and peer risk factors for disturbed EAB among these patients.

Results
The results showed that the life satisfaction scores of the intervention group were significantly elevated from 22.66 in pre-test to 26.13 in post-test (P < 0.001), while this improvement was not significant in the control group (P=0.405). The difference between life satisfaction scores of the intervention and the control groups was also significant (F=8.92, P=0.006). However, no significant change in the quality of life level of the intervention and control groups was observed (P=0.136).
Conclusion
Thus it can be deduced from the findings that this treatment method could be introduced as solution to increase the life satisfaction in infertile women, but not as a treatment for elevating their quality of life (Registration Number: IRCT2013042810063N3).

The current quasi-experimental study had a pretest-posttest design with a control group. The mean depression score significantly (P < 0.001) decreased in the intervention group compared with the control group in post-test. Also, the CBT group showed significant increases in happiness (P < 0.001) and satisfaction with life (P < 0.001) compared with the control group. In conclusion, CBT proves effective in improving depression, happiness, and satisfaction with life in high school students.
