Claiming no fixed rules for efficacious negotiation, civic and sustainability gamebased learning ... more Claiming no fixed rules for efficacious negotiation, civic and sustainability gamebased learning and capacity decisions, this study builds on investigating negotiation/conflict and civic/sustainability-related attitudes and skills surveyed in serious game play university setting. We report on 110 Greek private university graduate students' negotiation/conflict and civic/sustainability management-associated attributes after gaming when compared with lecture instruction as part of negotiation module in psychology course sessions in the academic year 2019/2020. After gaming, male and female students indicated beneficial civic learning-associated attributes like knowledge of and favorable orientation towards engagement and practice of political activities, nationwide , community and town-related challenges. Overall, this civic capacity seemed to be facilitated by less impulsive negotiation/conflict and positive civic/sustainability management behaviour in both genders post-gaming. The negotiation / conflict resolution and civic/sustainability management continuum attributes indicated after gaming are discussed together with theoretical and practical implications and avenues for further research regarding serious games negotiation/civic pedagogy and experience.

Studies in recent years from around the world have shown that between 15 to 50% of PhD graduates ... more Studies in recent years from around the world have shown that between 15 to 50% of PhD graduates go on to work in Higher Education (depending on the cohort studied and how "work" is defined). These figures have led to the "PhD crisis discourse" (Cuthbert & Molla, 2015). A key feature of the PhD crisis discourse is that universities are producing too many PhD graduates compared to the number of academic jobs available, and that graduates lack skills that render them employable in jobs outside academia. Thus PhD education has been moving towards a pro-skills development agenda, with a particular focus on transferrable skills. This poster presents work undertaken as part of an EU funded project-"Opening Doors". The goal of this project is to shape more innovative, socially aware and integrative research graduates, ready to meet the challenges of the future through a training module in Open Science-the design of which was informed through stakeholder interviews and a co-design workshop. This was a for-credit, online, interdisciplinary, intersectoral and international learning experience that consisted of challenge-based learning with external organisations, lectures and activities about open science and open innovation, and included facilitated work on career planning. Course participants were invited to take part in entry and exit interviews and submitted a written reflection at the end of the course. Their perspectives on this training are presented here where issues around career prospects, communication in collaboration and a new understanding of impact were to the fore.

Embracing no definite rules for encouraging negotiation, civics, and sustainability game-based learning and agency decisions, this study investigates negotiation/conflict and civics/sustainability-related attributes, as examined through the use of a learning game in a college environment. The author elaborates on the negotiation/conflict and civics/sustainability-related knowledge, attitudes, and skills of 60 Greek non-public college post-graduate students, explored post-gaming, and compared with classroom instruction as part of a negotiation/conflict management module in business psychology sessions in 2019/2020. The findings indicate the integrative negotiation/conflict resolution management and positive civics/sustainable development-associated attitudes of learners post-gaming when compared with lecture instruction. The project incorporates game-based learning technique for teaching computer programming topics in three different 3rd level institutions located in two different countries. The research analysis presented in this paper elaborates on post-game evaluation, observation data and feedback gathered from students during the computer programming class sessions. The analysis assesses two educational games (Variable and Loop) across and between the participants of three institutions, in terms of game usability (macro/game-related design), knowledge acquisition and user experience (micro/individual level-associated experience) factors. Significant positive relationships were noticed between game usability, knowledge acquisition and user experience across and between diverse participants. Implications and further research issues are discussed in light of game-based learning

Accepting no definite directives for win-win perspective across diverse social and cultural contexts, this study builds on analyzing negotiation and conflict resolution attitudes and skills explored in academic environment. We report Greek university students' negotiation practice as part of a pilot study performed at a private university during the academic years 2019/2020. 116 college students took part in the case study designed to appraise their negotiation and conflict management behaviour in terms of assertiveness, cooperation, communication, compromise/bargaining and conflict resolution strategies. State/region origin did not affect participants' negotiation and conflict resolution experience, while work status did influence students' conflict management settlement post-evaluation. The negotiation continuum outcomes indicated are discussed along theoretical and practical implications and streams for further research in tandem with international negotiationassociated instruction and experience.

It unfolds a theoretical perspective to the design-for-all methodology and provides a framework description for technologies for creating accessible content for educational content communication. Main concerns include the problem identification of design issues for universal accessibility of spoken material, the primary pedagogical aspects that such content implementation should follow upon, as well as look into the state of the most popular e-learning platforms for which educators create and communicate educational content in an e-learning environment. References to massive open online course platform types of content that exist at the moment are examined in order to understand the challenges of bridging the gap between the modern design of rich courses and universal accessibility. The paper looks into the existing technologies for accessibility and a frame for analysis, including methodological and design issues, available resources and implementation using the existing technologies for accessibility and the perception of the designer as well as the user standpoint. Finally, a study to inform and access how potential educators may perceive the accessibility factor shows that accessible content is a major requirement toward a successful path to universally accessible e-learning.

The purpose of this paper is twofold: first to explore, within the M&A context, the main effects of job-related stressors and perceived organizational support (POS) on merger survivors’ ill-health and second to examine the indirect links between these and commitment. Design/methodology/approach – Data were obtained from 140 employees of two merged financial institutions in Greece post-combination. Findings – The results indicated significant direct relationships between work-related stressors and POS and ill-health. As regards the indirect relationships, only the mediation link between organizational support, ill-health and commitment was supported. Practical implications – Implications, limitations and further research issues are discussed in light of the M&A context. Originality/value – The intention is to extend current ...

Data were collected from 140 Greek employees at two merged organizations. Path analysis indicated that high status of pre-merger organizations was related to reduced stress and better physical and psychological health. Absorb as opposed to transformation pattern was linked to increased stress and worse physical and psychological health post-merger, while post-merger stress mediated the relationship between intergroup-level variables and physical and psychological health. Current findings are discussed under theoretical developments and practical implications for organizational change.

However, many European countries are suffering from a declined number of students who choose STEM subjects as their future careers. While there are multiple underlying causes, the fact that traditional teaching approaches often fail to deliver STEM knowledge in an easy-to-accept manner, which resulted in poor learning outcomes and hence discouraged students, has its fair share in such crisis. To address such challenge, educators have been experimenting utilizing technology-enhanced learning materials and innovative teaching approaches lately. In this paper, we present a 2D serious game developed for Java Programming, i.e., the NEWTON Loop Game, which targets third-level education. To evaluate the effectiveness of the game in improving students’ learning outcomes, a case study was conducted in National College of Ireland. Before t...
