Abstract: The archaeological and archaeometric study of the mosaics of Pompeii's nymphaea a ... more Abstract: The archaeological and archaeometric study of the mosaics of Pompeii's nymphaea a scala, conducted since 2003, have provided an opportunity to collect data to build a database on glass tesserae used during the first century AD The observation of different kinds of vitreous materials also provides an understanding of the deterioration processes and agents.
For the first time an archaeological and archaeometric work presents the discovery of glass-worki... more For the first time an archaeological and archaeometric work presents the discovery of glass-working evidences in the area of Dürres Roman Amphitheatre in Albania. Glasses, coming from a layer dating back to the 11th century A.D., have been object of an archaeometric characterization to determinate the chemical composition. Moreover the oxygen isotope ratio has been calculated to hypothesize the provenance of the sands used to melt the glass. Bricks and charcoals, elements linked to the kiln structure, were analyzed by thermoluminescence and radiocarbon respectively.

and line the roads, the inhabitants produced, traded and lived. The examples from Pompeii, Herculaneum,
Ostia, Rome allow to understand the planimetric types, the urban distribution criteria, the terms of the
relationship with customers, the cultural, social and religious background of tabernarii and their transformation
over time. We present here a summary of the results of an ongoing research in some regions of central and
northern Italy and in Gallia Belgica.

Molti nomi sono stati dati nelle varie epoche alla città oggi chiamata Durrës (Albania) e sotto i... more Molti nomi sono stati dati nelle varie epoche alla città oggi chiamata Durrës (Albania) e sotto il dominio veneziano Durazzo: quella che fu Dyrrachium per i Romani, era stata Epidamnos per i coloni greci che la fondarono nel 627 a.C. ma anche Dyrrachion, che forse ne costituiva un quartiere o un nucleo precedente illirico, ipoteticamente collocato dagli studiosi nella parte meridionale della collina che affaccia sul mare e sull'ampia pianura, un tempo paludosa e oggi bonificata.
