This research is focused on an enhancement students’ mathematical representation ability through ... more This research is focused on an enhancement students’ mathematical representation ability through realistic mathematical approach and virtual manipulative. Then, classroom action research was applied to achieve the objectives of the research. the sample of the research is 30 students of grade VIII-A students of state junior high school SMPN 12 Tanjung Balai. Students’ ability was measured by test and observation. To analyze the data, this research used descriptive statistics with five absolute scales, while the data from observation was analyzed based on all aspects examined. After conducting the research, the result showed that students’ mathematical representation ability significantly increased which was seen from the data found in cycle I was only 57.9%, while it was going up to 89.5% in cycle 2. In addition, based on the observation against the teachers in operating the virtual manipulative system as teaching aids, the percentage was only 50.6%, and it significantly went up to 8...
Tujuan dari penelitian ini untuk mengetahui: (1) Apakah terdapat perbedaan kemampuan representasi... more Tujuan dari penelitian ini untuk mengetahui: (1) Apakah terdapat perbedaan kemampuan representasi matematis antara siswa yang diajarkan melalui pembelajaran matematika realistik menggunakan Fisikal manipulatif dengan siswa yang diajarkan melalui pembelajaran matematika realistik menggunakan Virtual manipulatif (2) Apakah proses jawaban siswa yang diajarkan dengan pembelajaran matematika realistik menggunakan Fisikal manipulatif dan pembelajaran matematika realistik menggunakan Virtual manipulatif sesuai dengan indikator kemampuan represntasi matematis. Populasi penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas VIII SMPN 2 Tanjung Balai. Kemudian dipilih dua kelas yaitu VIII-3 dan VIII-4 dengan total berjumlah 60 orang melalui teknik purposif random sampling. Sillabus ini juga sudah didesain dengan ATL skills (Approach to Learning Skill) yang di gunakan di IB school. Juga di sesuaikan dengan IB profile untuk siswa kelas 5.
