The first three volumes of the project (1543-1605, 1605-1634, 1637-1733) were published in 2015.
The project was funded from 2004 to 2006 by Fondazione Cariverona; since 2007 it has been funded by the Accademia Filarmonica di Verona.

Begun in 2013, the project aims to deepen knowledge of the Renaissance Trombone through the collaboration of researchers, instrument makers and musicians, also through the creation of playable copies, made as faithfully as possibile, of the Tenor Trombone of Anton Schnitzer “Father” (1579) and the anonymous Tenor Trombone “FILARMONIA”, both in the collection of the Accademia Filarmonica di Verona. The project also includes the publication of a book and the realization of a documentary. The book, Renaissance d’une sacqueboute. Du musée au musicien edited by Stefan Legée and Aurélien Poidevin (Paris, L’oeil dor), has been published in 2016.
The project is funded by Haute Ecole Spécialisée de Suisse Occidentale.

It comprises the historical archives, the library and 71 musical instruments, many from the Renaissance era. A catalogue developed by John Henry van der Meer and Rainer Weber was published in 1982. However, the collection has not yet been officially recognized to be of “historical and cultural interest” by the Ministry of Cultural Assets and Activities. In order to achieve this recognition, a data recording effort based on the OA format has been conducted, starting in 2007. The development of a specific format for musical instruments datasheets is highly desirable. The format should be the same for all types of musical instruments and allow for data transfer capability to outside systems by multimedia connections. Data management procedures should also be updated and made compatible with the main operating systems currently in use.

A few days are enough for the young musician to captivate the entire city with his extraordinary performance skills and compositional genius. The concert held on Friday 5 January 1770 in the Sala Maffeiana of the Accademia Filarmonica of Verona and the performance on the Bonatti organ of the church of San Tomaso Cantuariense on Sunday 7 remain memorable. Testimony of this profound bond between Verona and the Salzburg area is the “Portrait of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart at the age of 13”, commissioned by «our good friend» Pietro Lugiati, made in the early days of 1770. Starting from the exhibition of the “Veronese Portrait of Mozart” in a European exclusive at the Castelvecchio Museum in Verona in 2021, which allowed scholars to engage with the work de visu, the book presents an updated reflection on the painting. With their essays, the authors offer a significant contribution to knowledge on the Veronese Portrait of Mozart, the historical, artistic and musical context that saw its genesis, with a solid proposal on the authorial attribution of the work.

The Soundscape of the Venetian Terraferma in the Early Modern Era is an international conference ... more The Soundscape of the Venetian Terraferma in the Early Modern Era is an international conference organized by the Accademia Filarmonica of Verona on the occasion of the 475th anniversary of its foundation (23 May 1543), in collaboration with the University of Verona, Ca’ Foscari University of Venice, the University of St Andrews and the Conservatorio “E. F. Dall’Abaco” of Verona. Natural sequel to The Soundscape of Early Modern Venice (Ca’ Foscari University of Venice, 24-27 May 2017 – Visit the Venice conference web section ), this further initiative has the aim of increasing debate on the varied soundscape of the Venetian Terraferma in the early modern period. This territory, which stretched from Bergamo in the west to the Friulian Alps in the north-east and the river Po at the Republic’s southern extremity, formed one of the three subdivisions of the Serenissima; the others were the Dogado (Venice and surrounding area) and the Stato da mar (Venetian possessions in the eastern Adriatic and Mediterranean areas). The articulate system that regulates musical and non-musical sound in the Venetian territories prior to the fall of the Serenissima in 1797 is highly conducive to an interdisciplinary approach which draws on the new perspectives offered by urban history, humanistic geography and historical anthropology. Emblematic, in this sense, are the activities of the Accademia Filarmonica, which have dominated almost five centuries of local musical history.
