Shounen is an adventure tale in which the protagonist must face a sequence of antagonists, often more powerful as the story carries on, in order to reach a purpose that intersects with his personal development and doesn't concern only plot-related objectives.
Every single author ends up arranging and managing differently the four moments of a story modal structure: manipulation, competence, performance and sanction can be put in different orders to recreate different plots. This thesis intends to comparate three sucessful shounen manga, One Piece, Naruto and Bleach, to show the results these different methods can lead to.

The coverage will start from the dawn of both French and German nations, after the death of Louis the Pious and end – through a quickly review of national wars in France and struggle between princes in the Holy Roman Empire – in 1962, the year in which de Gaulle made an official journey in Germany.
The second chapter will be focused mainly over the political and diplomatic dynamics behind the formation of the treaty. It’ll analyze the different goals de Gaulle and Adenauer wanted to achieve through this pact, the problems behind the adoption of the the Treaty in the German Parliament, the contrasts broken out between the French President and Adenauer’s successor – Ludwig Erhard. I’ll focus on reporting the diplomatic and political events and the influence of the government leaders’ personalities on shaping and promulgating the Élysée Treaty.
The third chapter will focus on the following years – from 1963 to 2005, mainly –from a political-diplomatic perspective. These years were characterized by different phases: first of all the Pompidou/Brandt phase, then the Giscard/Smith one, the Mitterrand/Kohl phase – prominent for Douaumont celebrations –, the post-Berlin Wall phase and, finally, the present Sarkozy/Merkel dynamics. I’m going to stress the importance of the Treaty as a symbol that builds a new common history between the two nations.
The most important contribution to the thesis was provided by a gathering of essays from a 2003 conference at the Deutsches Historisches Institut-Paris and the Sorbonne. It hinges on two basic and interrelated questions: first, did Franco-German reconciliation result from the government and its representatives, from big ideas or from civil society? Second, was the Elysée Treaty the cause or the result of the reconciliation between two previous enemies?
