This paper addresses the relationship between Digital Libraries (DL) and Digital Humanities (DH) ... more This paper addresses the relationship between Digital Libraries (DL) and Digital Humanities (DH) with a special focus on global access to knowledge. An overview DL & DH and their interconnections are described. This is followed by an overview of what the humanities need from a global networked infrastructure involving Digital libraries: in other words, what can Digital Humanities learn from Libraries? Conversely, how can Libraries be DH-Friendly? To conclude we propose some research orientations that emerged from comparing DL and DH agendas, and we outline the challenges that still lay ahead. Review paper on the State of the art of Libraries and Digital Humanities. What do the humanities need from a globally networked infrastructure involving Digital libraries? What can Digital Humanities learn from Libraries? What would a DH-friendly Library involve? What are the core elements and activities that would be involving both? The challenges facing both Digital Libraries and Digital Humanities are discussed and some elements on future directions are outlined.

De l'indexation a la recherche d'information multilingue, quels roles peut jouer le thesaurus au sein des systemes d'information. La presentation suivra en quelque sorte l'evolution de l'apport des applications de la terminologie aux systemes d'information. L'accent sera particulierement mis sur le nouveau role que le thesaurus pourrait jouer et sur la necessite de l'adapter a la nouvelle ecriture sur ecran. J'examinerai aussi la possibilite de son basculement fonctionnel, vers un usage d'interface pour l'acces a l'information.

"Information system is a rich multidisciplinary field, where human and organizational factor... more "Information system is a rich multidisciplinary field, where human and organizational factors are as important as technological factors. The technological factors include hardware, software, data and networks. Human and organizational factors include strategy, business process, financial and managerial user aspects. To cope with managerial and administrative problems due to lack of any integrated Management Information System (MIS) and to make universities, world class centers of education, research and development, Higher Education Commission of Pakistan (HEC) has taken the initiative of introducing the Campus Management Solution (an MIS) at public sector universities of Pakistan. This CMS automates majority of tasks that are required for proper functioning of a university. As its first step, HEC has selected few universities for pilot testing and implementation. The Islamia University of Bahawalpur (IUB) is one of the few universities, which has reached to the implementation phase of CMS. Despite all necessary arrangements, CMS is not functional at different departments of IUB. This paper aims to explore the social problems hindering the implementation process. The paper is based on personal interviews and analysis of related documents. The findings of the study do not only reveal the social problems/obstacles on the way, but can also be a source of in-sight for HEC and university authorities for planning the corrective strategies in this regard. Through this case, we will develop an approach related to KO technologies that highlight the importance of the 'interface' not only as user interface in software but, moreover, as a pathway between users, communities and organizations necessary for promoting a common understanding and use of knowledge in an efficient way.

This paper describes the ongoing evaluation work in CESART research project supported by the Fren... more This paper describes the ongoing evaluation work in CESART research project supported by the French Ministry of Research and Technology and coordinated by the University of Lille 3 and ELDA. The project deals with the evaluation of term and semantic relation extraction from corpora in French. CESART logically follows on the evaluation project achieved within the framework of the Concerted Research Project ARC A3 supported by the AUF, former Aupelf-Uref. This article sets the context, briefly mention the project objectives and reports on the suggested evaluation protocol. 1 http://www.technolangue.net 2 The ARC A3 is a project of the ILEC group coordinated and founded by AUF 1996-2000. This proposal presents the methodology of indexing with images suggested by De Brito and Caribé (... more This proposal presents the methodology of indexing with images suggested by De Brito and Caribé (2015). The imagetic model is used as a compatible mechanism with FRSAD for a global information share and use of subject data, both within the library sector and beyond. The conceptual model of imagetic indexing shows how images are related to topics and ‘key-images’ are interpreted as nomens to implement the FRSAD model. Indexing with images consists of using images instead of key-words or descriptors, to represent and organize information. Implementing the imaged navigation in OPACs denotes multiple advantages derived from this rethinking the OPAC anew, since we are looking forward to sharing concepts within the subject authority data. Images, carrying linguistic objects, permeate inter-social and cultural concepts. PURPOSE/THESIS: This paper presents a review of the French contribution to the epistemology and t... more PURPOSE/THESIS: This paper presents a review of the French contribution to the epistemology and theory of documentation and information science. It is focused on the authors, theories, and practices that have been neglected, or forgotten by French information specialists. An attempt was made to assess their contribution and influence on information science and the theory of the document. APPROACH/METHODS: The author focused on the analysis of the literature either printed or available as online texts, and proceedings of the ISKO-France conference held in Paris in 2017. RESULTS AND CONCLUSIONS: The review of the French contribution to the epistemology and theory of documentation and information science is carried out according to a triple chronological perspective.
