Programmable Logic Devices (PLD) such as FPGAs allow hardware reconfiguration, which can be speci... more Programmable Logic Devices (PLD) such as FPGAs allow hardware reconfiguration, which can be specified using a hardware description language (HDL).This can be used do implement part of the functionality of a system into both hardware or software. This project is inserted into this context, and has implemented operating systems' components in hardware. This allow embedded systems to have their components mapped to software or hardware depending what is most appropriated to their target application.
O uso de telescópios de pequeno porte na observação astronômica amadora é muitas vezes restringid... more O uso de telescópios de pequeno porte na observação astronômica amadora é muitas vezes restringido pela dificuldade que astrônomos amadores enfrentam para localizar um astro desejado e acompanhá-lo no céu. Este artigo apresenta o desenvolvimento de um sistema embarcado a ser utilizado na automação de telescópios de pequeno porte visando facilitar a operação desses equipamentos por amadores. O sistema é baseado em um microcontrolador e possui uma interface para o usuário indicar o astro desejado e configurar a observação a ser realizada.

Simple processor architectures are used as example of digital systems to apply and integrate the concepts studied in these courses. In this paper, we discuss the use of a simple processor named BIP (Basic Instruction-set Processor) in courses on digital circuits and systems design. BIP is distinguished from similar processors because it was developed by applying a multidisciplinary approach in order to allow its use in introductory courses on computer programming and in several other courses in the Computer Science area.
