Innovative teaching strategies are required to be implemented in teaching writing to enhance stud... more Innovative teaching strategies are required to be implemented in teaching writing to enhance students’ writing skills. This study aims at investigating the effectiveness of brainstorming combined with project-based learning implemented in writing classrooms. This study employed a descriptive research design. Several data collection methods were conducted to gather the data, such as classroom observations, semi-structured interviews with the selected university lecturers, questionnaires and document study of the mid-semester and final semester scores. This study found that brainstorming combined with project-based learning is an effective learning strategy for improving students’ writing skills. Moreover, brainstorming combined with project-based learning promotes students’ active participation in writing classes. This study implies that brainstorming combined with project-based learning should be implemented more intensively in the classroom to develop students’ learning competence.

Yoga, meditation, and selfpurification are components of Balinese culture that are practised by many Indonesians and foreigners alike. Yoga, meditation, and self-purification activities can be used to promote cultural and wellness tourism to attract domestic and foreign tourists. This research was conducted to determine whether yoga, meditation, and self-purification activities support cultural tourism in Bali. The research method used is a qualitative method where data were collected through interviews and field observations. The data were then analyzed descriptively. This study found that yoga, meditation, and selfpurification activities can be used to promote cultural and wellness tourism in Bali. This research has implications that yoga, meditation, and selfpurification activities can be designed to be used for sustainable cultural tourism activities and can also be used for attractive promotional media.

Learning loss occurs when students lose knowledge and skills generally or specifically or there i... more Learning loss occurs when students lose knowledge and skills generally or specifically or there is an academic impediment due to prolonged gaps or the discontinuation of the educational process. This study aims to examine learning loss during and after the COVID-19 pandemic and its psychological impact on students. Qualitative research was carried out comprehensively in schools in Indonesia by conducting interviews with teachers who were selected as the subjects of this research. The results of this study indicated that there was a learning loss during and after the COVID-19 pandemic and had an impact on students' psychological conditions in learning. Therefore, this research implies that teachers must consider the conditions of student learning loss and always try to find the right solution to improve students' abilities to reduce the learning loss.

Assessing is a process of giving score and evaluation of students' learning achievement to provid... more Assessing is a process of giving score and evaluation of students' learning achievement to provide the opportunity to plan further learning improvement to attain the learning standard determined by the curriculum. This study dealt with analyzing students' writing ability to enhance their micro and macro writing. An ex-post facto research design was employed to establish reliable findings. The research instrument that was used to collect the data was in the form of a productive test. Students were assigned to construct a descriptive paragraph consisting of at least seven sentences. The result of this study showed that: there were 5% of students who achieved an excellent score in writing a descriptive paragraph, 37.5% of students attained good achievement, 30% of students attained sufficient achievement, 17.5% students obtained insufficient achievement, 10% students were in poor achievement. This finding suggests that there still many students found difficulty in writing unified and coherent paragraphs.

Therefore, the improvement of writing skills is absolutely essential to be continually carried out. This study aims at developing writing skills by implementing a mind mapping strategy in the EFL classroom. There two cyclic learning sessions comprising planning, action, observation, and reflection were conducted in this study. The data were collected through administering pre-test, post-test, and questionnaires to the students who participated in this study. Based on the results of data analysis, this study revealed that students' writing skills could be improved through implementing a mind mapping strategy. Therefore, this study implies that teachers should consider using mind mapping in teaching writing.

In this pretest-posttest one group pre-experiment study, we observed and analyzed the English test constructed by junior high school teachers. The Pretest on constructing the test items was administered to fifteen English teachers and some weaknesses were revealed. These can be seen from the total score of 855 and the mean score was 57.00. Treatment was given by ensuring them the rules of writing the test based on a principle of habit formation. The competence of teachers in constructing appropriate test items increased to higher quality indicated by scores of 79.33. It means the treatment has significantly influenced the ability of English teachers in constructing appropriate tests. The subject of this study consists of 100 students. This study is descriptive qualitative in the form of a case study. The data were collected through questionnaires and students' interviews. In education sectors, reading comprehension is an ability for the students to continually develop their skills in various subjects. Consequently, assessment of students' reading comprehension is absolutely essential to be conducted to systematically collect information and making inferences about the ability of a student or the quality of the learning process. This study revealed that students' reading comprehension is at a sufficient level and students still experienced some challenges in reading comprehension. This study implies that more intensive reading comprehension activities should be carried out and better learning strategies should be employed by the teachers in teaching reading comprehension.

the main focus was analyzing the structure, function and meaning of oral text of
genjek by using the theory of structure, theory of function and theory of semiotics.
The theory of structure was used to analyze the structure of oral text of genjek.
The theory of function was used to anlyze the function of the oral text of genjek
and the theory of semiotics was used to analyze the meaning of the oral text of
genjek.
The present study was a qualitative study with systematic study that
departs from theory to observation on the availability of data for further analysis
and data validation. The approach used in this study was a phenomenological
approach that moved from the phenomenon of language used in genjek. The
implication of this study is expected to provide benefits to the linguistic approach
in studying the structure, function and meaning of the other texts and other
literary works.
In this study, it was found that oral text of genjek is literary work which
has macro structure, super structure and micro structure. The function of genjek
includes:
entertainment function, education function, function of remembering
the past, solidarityfunction, social control function, social protest and criticism
function, and religious function. Meanings of genjek includes: meaning of love,
meaning of the collective consciousness, meaning of ritual, existence of social
stratification recognition.
Creation process of genjek text is done together spontaneously by a group
of people who are gathered togther. Inheritance process of genjek is done
naturally and non-naturally so that genjek can thrive in Karangasem society.

Teori sturktural digunakan untuk menganalis struktur teks lisan genjek. Teori fungsi digunakan untuk mengkaji fungsi teks lisan Genjek dan teori semiotik digunakan untuk mengkaji makna teks lisan genjek. Jenis penelitian ini adalah kualitatif dengan sistematika kajian berangkat dari teori ke pengamatan terhadap keberadaan data untuk selanjutnya dilakukan analisis dan validasi data. Pendekatan yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah pendekatan fenomenologi yang beranjak dari fenomena penggunaan bahasa dalam genjek. Implikasi penelitian ini dapat memberikan manfaat bagi pendekatan linguistik dalam mengkaji struktur, fungsi, dan makna teks lisan dan karya sastra lainnya. Di dalam penelitian ini ditemukan teks lisan genjek berupa karya sastra yang memiliki struktur makro, superstruktur, dan struktur mikro. Fungsi genjek, meliputi: fungsi hiburan, fungsi pendidikan, fungsi mengenang masa lalu, fungsi solidaritas, fungsi pengendalian sosial, fungsi protes dan kritik sosial, dan fungsi religius. Makna teks lisan genjek, meliputi: makna kasih sayang, makna kesadaran kolektif, makna ritual, dan makna pengakuan adanya stratifikasi sosial. Process penciptakan teks genjek dilakukan bersama-sama secara spontanitas oleh sekelompok orang yang berkumpul bersama. Proses pewarisan genjek dilakukan secara alamiah dan non-alamiah sehingga genjek dapat berkembang dengan baik di masyarakat Karangasem.
