A Schiff base ligand 4-[4-chlorobenzoyl]-3-methyl-1-phenyl pyrazol thiosemicarbazone has been syn... more A Schiff base ligand 4-[4-chlorobenzoyl]-3-methyl-1-phenyl pyrazol thiosemicarbazone has been synthesized from condensation of thiosemicarbazide and 4-[4-chlorobenzoyl]-3-methyl-1-phenyl pyrazol-5-one. The Ru(III), Cd(II) and Mn(II) complexes of the ligand were also synthesized. The Schiff base ligand and its complexes were characterized based on melting point, colour, solubility IR and UV spectroscopy. In the infra red spectra, the key vibration bands were observed which include δ(N-H), δ(C=S), δ(C-O), δ(C=N), δ(O-H), δ(N-N), δ(M-O), δ(M-N) and δ(M-S). The infra red spectral data revealed that the ligand behaved as an ONS donor ligand coordinating through the enolic oxygen, the azomethine nitrogen and the sulphur atom of the thiosemicarbazide moiety.
