Potensi yang dimiliki di antaranya adalah pada sektor budaya. Peluang pengembangan wisata dapat dilakukan secara terpadu antara wisata budaya dan wisata hiburan. Salah satu usaha yang dilakukan dalam upaya pengembangan peluang tersebut adalah membuat model pengembangan wisata budaya di kawasan Pabrik Gula Gondang Winangoen, Kabupaten Klaten. Secara sistematis, penelitian ini bertujuan: 1) mengidentifikasi karakteristik produk wisata Kampung Baluwarti, 2) mengkaji pengembangan citra Kampung Baluwarti sebagai destinasi pariwisata budaya di Kota Surakarta, dan merumuskan paket wisata edukasi budaya yang disesuaikan dengan potensi eksisting, lingkungan dan perencanaan kawasan. Tulisan ini mendiskusikan penggunaan istilah ‘ekowisata’ pada penamaan berbagai destinasi wisata ... more Tulisan ini mendiskusikan penggunaan istilah ‘ekowisata’ pada penamaan berbagai destinasi wisata berbasis alam di Indonesia serta menunjukkan dua faktor yang sangat penting dalam perencanaan, pengembangan, dan operasional ekowisata namun cenderung terabaikan, yaitu pembatasan pengunjung dan keterlibatan masyarakat lokal. Berbagai pihak termasuk pengelola dan pemerintah lokal perlu diberi pemahaman mengenai apa itu wisata alam dan ekowisata mengingat kedua konsep tersebut berbeda dan tidak semua wisata alam dapat dikatakan ekowisata. Mereka juga perlu diedukasi mengenai pentingnya pembatasan pengunjung dan keterlibatan masyarakat lokal pada destinasi-destinasi ekowisata. Kedua faktor ini sangat penting untuk mempertahankan kelestarian destinasi ekowisata.

Hal tersebut dilakukan sebagai strategi pemasaran produk wisata sekaligus peningkatan kesejahteraan masyarakat serta didukung Dinas Pariwisata Kota Surakarta yang ingin mengembangkan wilayah berbasis ekonomi kreatif di kawasan Kota Surakarta. Lokasi penelitian berada di Kampung Baluwarti Kota Surakarta. Artikel ini berfokus pada peningkatan pemasaran melalui website sebagai media pemasaran di dunia digital. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu metode deskriptif-kualitatif dengan teknik pengambilan data berupa wawancara, observasi partisipasi, diskusi, operasional kerja, dan pendampingan secara langsung. This article discusses potentials and culinary tourism development model in the form of a culinar... more This article discusses potentials and culinary tourism development model in the form of a culinary tour package of Surakarta. The general objective of this article is to present a development model of culinary tourism that is relevant to stakeholders such as local government, culinary business, travel business, and tourists. In relation to the efforts in formulating a development model of culinary tourism, the specific objectives are: (i) to identify potentials of local foods in Surakarta; (ii) to create a culinary map of local foods in every district; and (iii) to design a tour package of culinary tourism in Surakarta. This research is a descriptive-qualitative research method, as an effort to find information and development model of culinary tourism in Surakarta. Methods of the data collection used participatory observation, interviews and literature studies. The data collection through observation and interviews were conducted in several government institutions, culinary business and tourism agencies of Surakarta. Literature study included all concepts and theories related to culinary tour and travel especially culinary references existing in Surakarta. The results obtained from this study show that culinary potential in Surakarta is very diverse located in five districts. The culinary potentials existing in Surakarta is presented on a culinary map containing culinary centers and the local foods offered in every district. Based on the information of culinary map, the culinary potentials are designed to a culinary tour package that deserves to be a new concept of development model of culinary tourism in Surakarta.

One of the historical heritages which can be used as a heritage tourism in Surakarta is Lokananta. It is the first music record company in Indonesia, which was established in Surakarta in 1956. The tourism potential of Lokananta, including physical building, various types of collections as well as phonograph record, audio tape and movie industry, make it viable to be developed as a tourism object by applying a more modern concept, i.e. audio visual concept. This concept is a combination of the existing potential in Lokananta and certain space arrangement such as audio visual theater room, music room, workshop room and integrated cafe so as to put up a more interesting, attractive and modern atmosphere.
