Silvia E Rodrigo

Second, the characteristics of their main components are described, and third, the issues required to adequately select a wheelchair oriented to optimize functional independence and prevent deformations or injuries by use of the occupant are analyzed. Finally, the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) normative developed for wheelchairs, known as the ISO 7176 series (which specifies the terminology and the test procedures used to evaluate the dimensions, safety, and performance of both manual and powered versions of wheelchairs), is cited indicating the minimum technical specifications that wheelchairs must meet to serve their intended use.

Such complexity is evident when trying to describe the characteristics of motor control and coordination exercised by the nervous system on the lower extremities of the human body during gait, under both normal and neuropathological

In addition, such models intend to elucidate how the characteristics of motor control and coordination ex-ercised by the nervous system regulate muscle activity during motion. In this sense, the de-scription of such models through the combined use of multibody dynamics and optimization techniques has demonstrated to be a satisfactory option, by generating high quality results at reasonable computational cost. Taking into account such antecedents, in this work a compre-hensive methodology for 3D dynamic analysis of human gait is developed and implemented. Within the framework of multibody dynamics, a whole-body response biomechanical model with forty-three degrees of freedom, developed for inverse dynamic analysis of such activity is present...
