There is an amazing array of tools and techniques available for the facilitator of the digital st... more There is an amazing array of tools and techniques available for the facilitator of the digital storytelling workshop today, but this abundance is also a ground for anxiety and confusion. In this paper I present the findings of my research project on the facilitation process of 12 hands-on workshops performed in several educational contexts in Greece. One of the main findings of the research was that all attempts to prioritize or emphasize an autonomous skill, technique or type of literacy, was misleading and interfering with the telling of the story and very often produced audiovisual 'noise' and semiotic errors in communication. On the contrary, the facilitation of multimodal practices contributed to the creation of more coherent and balanced stories in accordance to the rationales set by the digital storytelling format.

The surge of interactive media today was not followed by a similar surge of participatory practic... more The surge of interactive media today was not followed by a similar surge of participatory practices. Through a comparison between several of these interactive media that use personal storytelling, it becomes evident that differences in the structure of personal storytelling, are critical for interactivity to either remain decorative or become participatory and empowering. Many of the storytelling practices in the documentary tradition employ the essay structure that limits dialogue and interaction, while the structure of personal storytelling developed by the Californian model was designed to produce dialogic stories for an interactive and participatory performance. The media platforms presented in this paper provide opportunity and alternative practices to expand this mode of performative storytelling outside the limits of the story circle.

Στην παρούσα ερευνητική προσέγγιση παρουσιάζεται η μελέτη περίπτωσης του σχεδιασμού των διδακτικώ... more Στην παρούσα ερευνητική προσέγγιση παρουσιάζεται η μελέτη περίπτωσης του σχεδιασμού των διδακτικών εγχειριδίων για τη διδασκαλία της Νεοελληνικής Γλώσσας για το γυμνάσιο του 2001 και ακολουθεί μια συγκριτική εικονολογική ανάλυση των τριών διαδοχικών εκδόσεων των βιβλίων μέχρι σήμερα (1985, 2001, 2006). Η ερευνητική αυτή προσέγγιση εξετάζει κριτικά τους λόγους για την πολυτροπικότητα που αξιοποιήθηκαν στο σχεδιασμό των βιβλίων, όπως και το ευρύτερο παιδαγωγικό τους πλαίσιο.
