The use of contact lenses continues to increase, raising attention to aspects of eye health becau... more The use of contact lenses continues to increase, raising attention to aspects of eye health because of their hygienic factors. The hygiene of contact lenses comes not only from the way they are treated but also from the soaking fluid. This study aimed to determine the total bacterial count on contact lenses with and without the use of immersion solutions. The research method used is a comparative descriptive research method that compares the two pairs of contact lenses with two different contact lens solutions. The total bacterial count was calculated using the total plate count (TPC) method. The number of bacterial colonies for contact lenses before being immersed in liquid A was found in dilution 10-2 with an amount of 4.4×103 CFU/mL, and after soaking, it was in dilution 10-1 with an amount of 8.5×102 CFU/mL. The number of bacterial colonies on contact lenses before being immersed in B liquid was found in 10-1 dilution with an amount of 1.3×103 CFU/mL, and after being soaked, the average colony was 3.9×104 CFU/mL. From these results, it can be seen that in contact lenses and liquid A, there is a decrease in the number of bacterial colonies, while on the other hand, in liquid B, there is an increase in the number of bacterial colonies. The causal factor is thought to originate from the composition of the solutions. However, do not rule out contamination from bottles and contact lens care. Therefore, this research can be used as a basis for hygiene education in contact lenses.

The laboratory is one of the important facilities and supports the implementation of learning in ... more The laboratory is one of the important facilities and supports the implementation of learning in tertiary institutions. However, in carrying out practicum activities, students are often constrained by information regarding names, functions, and steps for using instruments. Therefore, the need for information about laboratory equipment is quite important for students. This study aims to produce a website based on a QR code to provide information about the instrument to users and the steps to use it. This research uses research and development methods with the ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Develop, Implementation, and Evaluation). The questionnaire is used to measure user responses regarding the QR code and its application. Based on the analysis of the problems found, the QR code was successfully created. This QR code was validated by media experts and instrument content experts and obtained valid results. Users show a positive response regarding the use of the QR code for introducing of Refraction Laboratory instruments. Thus, a website-based QR code can be used to provide optical instrument information to users. However, socialization about its use is very necessary for laboratory users.

But it is not enough we still should not let our guard down and still have to run clean lifestyle health protocols and keep the 3M health protocol must still run, one of which is to always get used to washing hands. This step aims so that new cases and the spread of Covid 19 can be stopped. In that effort, lecturers in the environment of STIKes Bakti Tunas Husada Tasikmalaya carried out community service activities that were intended to provide other perspectives in efforts to prevent the transmission of the virus. One of them is to maintain personal hygiene by getting used to washing hands starting with producing SNI standard hand washing soap and distributing it in the environment around the campus in the Cilolohan area with an explanation of the importance of hand washing in the current pandemic period. This activity can have a good impact on the community about the importance of hand washing habits so that people's insight into this can be improved and can help government programs either directly or indirectly in the prevention of the spread of covid 19, especially in the community environment around the cilolohan area.

The use of contact lenses that are not in accordance with the rules can cause a deficit of tear volume which eventually causes eye problems such as dry eyes. This study aimed to determine the comparison of tear production of contact lens user and non-users in students of Bakti Tunas Husada University. This study used quantitative research methods involving research subjects consisting of 20 contact lens users and 20 non-contact lens users. From this research, it is known that 75% of all respondents involved produce tears in the normal category and 25% of respondents produce excessive tears/hypersecretion. The results of the analysis of tear production of users and non-users of softlenses obtained p value = 0.60. Thus, it can be concluded that there is no significant difference between tear production in students who use and those who do not wear soft contact lenses.

Upaya preventif yang diusung adalah selalu menjaga kebersihan tangan menggunakan sabun cuci tangan dan meningkatkan keterampilan kader dan warga dalam membuat sabun cuci tangan. Miopia merupakan salah satu kelainan refraksi, miopia dapat menyebabkan kekuatan pembiasan sinar ... more Miopia merupakan salah satu kelainan refraksi, miopia dapat menyebabkan kekuatan pembiasan sinar terlalu berlebihan sehingga sinar sejajar yang datang dibiaskan di depan retina. Aktivitas lama membaca dapat meningkatkan risiko dan progresivitas miopia. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perbedaan derajat miopia berdasarkan durasi membaca. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode studi intervensi. Sebanyak 34 siswa dilibatkan dalam penelitian ini dengan kategori pemakai kacamata spheris minus dengan berbagai ukuran. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan menggunakan kuesioner mengenai derajat miopia dan durasi membaca buku. Hasil penelitian berdasarkan durasi membaca buku dalam sekali baca yaitu sebanyak 24 siswa (70,6%) memiliki durasi membaca buku yang baik (≤ 30 menit) dan 10 siswa (29,4%) memiliki durasi membaca buku yang tidak baik (> 30 menit). Measuring the suitability of the measure of visual impairment from contact lenses and spectacles is not enough to be assessed from visual acuity and visual field measurements alone, but also needed subjective patient-based visual function assessments, namely the VF-14 questionnaire. A total of 40 students were involved in this study. All of the participants were given the VF-14 questionnaire twice: for visual function using contact lenses; and visual function using spectacles. The mean VF-14 score among contact lenses and spectacles wearer were 90.63±2.96 and 93.04±2.45respectively. There were significant differences visual function between contact lens and spectacles wearer (p = 0.00) especially in reading small print activity; reading signs; watching TV; playing table games; cooking; driving during the day; and recognizing people at distance. This study aimed to identify the mHealth application that can be used for independent visual acuity examination and in accordance with the rules of clinical eye examination. Visual acuity applications are identified through a systematic Google Play Store platform search. A total of 44 identified applications can be used for visual acuity checks. The public and experts can use 15 (34%) applications, and 73% of applications have a self-testing. The calibration features and detailed settings in the application will affect the accuracy of the results of the visual acuity measurement using the application. Oleh karena itu dilakukan kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat yang bertujuan untuk memberikan penyuluhan kepada masyarakat mengenai kesehatan mata dalam bentuk video. Measurement of the pupillary distance (PD) is one of the important steps of the spectacles-making... more Measurement of the pupillary distance (PD) is one of the important steps of the spectacles-making process. PD measurement can be done using the PD Ruler, Auto-refractometer, and smartphones’ apps. The study aims to evaluate PD measurement apps (Pupil Distance Meter Pro from Vistech Project, PD Pupil Distance for Eye Glasses and VR Headset from Glassify Me, and The Ultimate PD Rule) and compared them with Auto-refractometer as the gold standard. A total of 39 students (age 19-22) were involved in this study. The result of this study indicated that there was no difference between the measurement of the PD using the Glassify me app and the Auto-refractometer (p = 0.48). However, there was a mean difference of 0.2 mm between them. It could be concluded that the Glassify me app has the best accuracy compared to other apps (p value 0.48). This app was recommended to be used as an alternative to PD measurement.

Method: A research and development (RnD) method was conducted in this study, adapting ADDIE development model which consist of analysis stage, design stage, development stage, implementation stage, dan evaluation stage. Result and Discussion: The content that integrated into the game were healthy eye tips, eye exercise, refractive disorder, proper way of reading, eyestrain, and eye-care health officers. The aptness of the game was carried out by three expert. The result were 91% valid by media expert, 82% valid by health promotion expert, and 46% by eye health-content expert. Conclusion: The eye health snake-and-ladder games had revised and ready to be tested in limited and field trial as an eye health promotion media.

Salah satu komplikasi mata yang sering terjadi dari pemakai lensa kontak adalah dry eyes. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan pengetahuan pengguna lensa kontak dengan kejadian dry eyes. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah kuantitatif dengan pendekatan cross sectional. Data dianalisis secara deskriptif dan uji hipotesis diuji dengan menggunakan uji chi-square. Sebanyak 46 siswa SMA dilibatkan dalam penelitian dengan menggunakan instrumen berupa kuesioner dan penilaian objektif menggunakan uji Schrimer 1. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa tingkat pengetahuan pemakaian lensa kontak dikategorikan baik; tingkat pengetahuan lama pakai lensa kontak dikategorikan baik; dan tingkat pengetahuan penyimpanan lensa kontak dikategorikan baik. Keluhan yang sering dirasa ketika menggunakan lensa kontak adalah mata terasa kemasukan benda asing (41.3%). Dengan penilaian objektif menggunakan uji Schrimer terdapat tujuh mata kanan (15,2%) dan enam mata kiri (13%) mengalami dry eyes. Tidak terdapat hubungan antara pengetahuan pengguna lensa kontak dengan kejadian dry eyes.

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui gambaran sudut pantoscopic pemakai kacamata serta penyebab dari ketidak-sesuaian kacamata tersebut. Sebanyak 100 siswa SMA Al-Muttaqin Kota Tasikmalaya, pemakai kacamata single vision , dilibatkan dalam penelitian ini. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa terdapat 27% kacamata yang memiliki sudut pantoscopic sesuai standar. Kemiringan sudut pantoscopic ini disebabkan karena kebiasaan buruk penggunaan kacamata. Terdapat 42% siswa yang menyatakan bahwa kacamatanya pernah dipakai saat ketiduran, dan 53% siswa menyatakan bahwa kacamatanya pernah tertindih benda berat. Meskipun demikikian, 91% siswa menyatakan bahwa kacamata yang dipakai saat ini masih dirasa nyaman.

Subjek sasaran kegiatan adalah pengikut akun Instagram @optometry.bth. Materi yang akan disampaikan adalah fakta unik tentang mata, keluhan penglihatan, kelainan refraksi, dan penyakit mata. Materi disajikan dalam bentuk gambar, animasi, dan video. Penyampaian materi pun dilakukan secara langsung ataupun diselingi dengan interaksi seperti pengajuan respon dalam bentuk pertanyaan, cari gambar, dan tebak lagu. Dari hasil kegiatan, diketahui bahwa jumlah dan rata-rata view dan discovery paling besar diperoleh di hari pertama dengan menggunakan media video. Penerapan teknologi dalam managemen laboratorium diperlukan untuk meningkatkan efektifitas dan efisiensi. Tujuan dari kegiatan ini adalah untuk membuat dan mengimplementasikan QR code dalam pelayanan laboratorium. Aktivitas lama membaca dapat meningkatkan risiko dan progresivitas miopia. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perbedaan derajat miopia berdasarkan durasi membaca. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode studi intervensi. Sebanyak 34 siswa dilibatkan dalam penelitian ini dengan kategori pemakai kacamata spheris minus dengan berbagai ukuran. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan menggunakan kuesioner mengenai derajat miopia dan durasi membaca buku. Hasil penelitian berdasarkan durasi membaca buku dalam sekali baca yaitu sebanyak 24 siswa (70,6%) memiliki durasi membaca buku yang baik (≤ 30 menit) dan 10 siswa (29,4%) memiliki durasi membaca buku yang tidak baik (> 30 menit). Measuring the suitability of the measure of visual impairment from contact lenses and spectacles is not enough to be assessed from visual acuity and visual field measurements alone, but also needed subjective patient-based visual function assessments, namely the VF-14 questionnaire. A total of 40 students were involved in this study. All of the participants were given the VF-14 questionnaire twice: for visual function using contact lenses; and visual function using spectacles. The mean VF-14 score among contact lenses and spectacles wearer were 90.63±2.96 and 93.04±2.45respectively. Visual acuity applications are identified through a systematic Google Play Store platform search. A total of 44 identified applications can be used for visual acuity checks. The public and experts can use 15 (34%) applications, and 73% of applications have a self-testing. The calibration features and detailed settings in the application will affect the accuracy of the results of the visual acuity measurement using the application. Tears are a substance that is very important in maintaining eye health. The use of contact lenses... more Tears are a substance that is very important in maintaining eye health. The use of contact lenses that are not in accordance with the rules can cause a deficit of tear volume which eventually causes eye problems such as dry eyes. This study aimed to determine the comparison of tear production of contact lens user and non-users in students of Bakti Tunas Husada University. This study used quantitative research methods involving research subjects consisting of 20 contact lens users and 20 non-contact lens users. From this research, it is known that 75% of all respondents involved produce tears in the normal category and 25% of respondents produce excessive tears/hypersecretion. The results of the analysis of tear production of users and non-users of softlenses obtained p value = 0.60. Thus, it can be concluded that there is no significant difference between tear production in students who use and those who do not wear soft contact lenses.

Measurement of the pupillary distance (PD) is one of the important steps of the spectacles-making... more Measurement of the pupillary distance (PD) is one of the important steps of the spectacles-making process. PD measurement can be done using the PD Ruler, Auto-refractometer, and smartphones’ apps. The study aims to evaluate PD measurement apps (Pupil Distance Meter Pro from Vistech Project, PD Pupil Distance for Eye Glasses and VR Headset from Glassify Me, and The Ultimate PD Rule) and compared them with Auto-refractometer as the gold standard. A total of 39 students (age 19-22) were involved in this study. The result of this study indicated that there was no difference between the measurement of the PD using the Glassify me app and the Auto-refractometer (p = 0.48). However, there was a mean difference of 0.2 mm between them. It could be concluded that the Glassify me app has the best accuracy compared to other apps (p value 0.48). This app was recommended to be used as an alternative to PD measurement.

Method: A research and development (RnD) method was conducted in this study, adapting ADDIE development model which consist of analysis stage, design stage, development stage, implementation stage, dan evaluation stage. Result and Discussion: The content that integrated into the game were healthy eye tips, eye exercise, refractive disorder, proper way of reading, eyestrain, and eye-care health officers. The aptness of the game was carried out by three expert. The result were 91% valid by media expert, 82% valid by health promotion expert, and 46% by eye health-content expert. Conclusion: The eye health snake-and-ladder games had revised and ready to be tested in limited and field trial as an eye health promotion media.

Salah satu komplikasi mata yang sering terjadi dari pemakai lensa kontak adalah dry eyes. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan pengetahuan pengguna lensa kontak dengan kejadian dry eyes. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah kuantitatif dengan pendekatan cross sectional. Data dianalisis secara deskriptif dan uji hipotesis diuji dengan menggunakan uji chi-square. Sebanyak 46 siswa SMA dilibatkan dalam penelitian dengan menggunakan instrumen berupa kuesioner dan penilaian objektif menggunakan uji Schrimer 1. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa tingkat pengetahuan pemakaian lensa kontak dikategorikan baik; tingkat pengetahuan lama pakai lensa kontak dikategorikan baik; dan tingkat pengetahuan penyimpanan lensa kontak dikategorikan baik. Keluhan yang sering dirasa ketika menggunakan lensa kontak adalah mata terasa kemasukan benda asing (41.3%). Dengan penilaian objektif menggunakan uji Schrimer terdapat tujuh mata kanan (15,2%) dan enam mata kiri (13%) mengalami dry eyes. Tidak terdapat hubungan antara pengetahuan pengguna lensa kontak dengan kejadian dry eyes.

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui gambaran sudut pantoscopic pemakai kacamata serta penyebab dari ketidak-sesuaian kacamata tersebut. Sebanyak 100 siswa SMA Al-Muttaqin Kota Tasikmalaya, pemakai kacamata single vision , dilibatkan dalam penelitian ini. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa terdapat 27% kacamata yang memiliki sudut pantoscopic sesuai standar. Kemiringan sudut pantoscopic ini disebabkan karena kebiasaan buruk penggunaan kacamata. Terdapat 42% siswa yang menyatakan bahwa kacamatanya pernah dipakai saat ketiduran, dan 53% siswa menyatakan bahwa kacamatanya pernah tertindih benda berat. Meskipun demikikian, 91% siswa menyatakan bahwa kacamata yang dipakai saat ini masih dirasa nyaman.
