Notre essai analyse toutes les utopies présentes dans les romans de Houellebecq, tout en faisant des parallèles avec ses textes intermédiaires, sa poésie ou ses productions non littéraires. Son œuvre nous montre que la quête d’immortalité et la quête sexuelle aboutissent au même résultat. Les utopies houellebecquiennes finissent toujours par échouer. La dystopie prend le pas sur l’utopie, le malheur sur le bonheur. Chez Houellebecq, l’espoir est vain.
This article is focused on intertextuality in Houellebecq’s work. It describes his philosophical ... more This article is focused on intertextuality in Houellebecq’s work. It describes his philosophical influences such as Comte or Schopenhauer, who helped him to form his own ideas about life and humanity. It also points out his literary influences such as Baudelaire or Lautréamont, about whom Houellebecq refers often with admiration. In the end it evokes a more discreet intertextuality which is rarely exposed when we talk about his work.

It tries to explain why Jacques Tati fails at the end of his career, particularly because of his perfectionism which lead him to poverty and the inability to make other films he wanted to. Finally, the author mentions the influence of Tati’s work on his followers. So far, his influence has been stronger abroad than in France, but we can already observe slight changes.
