Here are three major books on the topic that look very interesting.Teaming with Microbes is written for more of a lay audience.Soil Biology Primer seems an intermediate text. And The Compost Tea Brewing Manual makes itself look a bit more in depth and technical.I think I'm answering my own question here before even asking it. I'll get more out of the more technical text.Anyway for folks interested in re-vivifying the Earth these books should all have something to offer(3 comments | Leave a comment)[User Picture]From:aisa0 Date:June 10th, 2009 08:49 pm (UTC) (Link)sunflowerriver has a copy of Teaming with Microbes sitting on our table right now. I didn't get time, when we had lunch today, to talk about my reading of the Spell of the Sensuous, but David Abram's treatment of the ground below in that book has me fascinated, and I wanted to bounce that theory off you in the context of the books you mention here.(Reply) (Thread) [User Picture]From:aisa0 Date:June 10th, 2009 08:51 pm (UTC) **(Link)**I currently have a place in one of my dye beds that two plants have died in. I suppose the squash planted there is technically hanging on, but it hasn't grown since I put it in the ground, whereas the rest of the squashes back there are growing normally.I've wondered about this mystery, which clearly became a soil/location issue with the second plant struggling there.(Reply) (Thread) [User Picture]From:robing Date:June 11th, 2009 12:47 am (UTC) **(Link)**Teaming With Microbes is excellent, imo. The concept of grass mulch for gardens and wood mulch for forests was pretty fascinating and logical to me.Have not seen or read the other two, but you might also consider The Complete Compost Gardening Guide by Pleasant and Martin.(Reply) (Thread)
