Your Local Stamped & Colored Concrete Expert

At Custom Concrete & Forms, we specialize in creating beautiful, durable stamped concrete surfaces that enhance the aesthetic appeal and value of your property.

Stamped concrete provides a versatile and cost-effective way to replicate the look of natural materials such as stone, brick, slate, and even wood, with the added benefits of concrete’s strength and longevity.

You can find a small sample of the different design options we offer below. We also have a complete catalog of stamped concrete patterns and colors if you would like to see all of the available options.

What is Stamped Concrete?

Stamped concrete is a type of concrete that is patterned, textured, or decorated to look like other materials such as brick, stone, tile, or wood. It is created by pouring a concrete surface first and then pressing a stamp onto it before it hardens.

This technique can give your new concrete driveway, patio, or walkway a unique and attractive appearance. Stamped concrete is popular because it combines the durability of concrete with the beauty of more expensive materials, making it a cost-effective way to enhance the look of your home.

What's the Difference Between Colored & Stamped Concrete?

Colored and stamped concrete are both great ways to upgrade a basic concrete surface, but they are NOT the same thing.

Colored concrete is simply concrete that has had the color changed in some way. You can change the color of concrete by adding pigments to the concrete mix before it’s poured or by applying color directly to the surface after it has been poured.

Both of these concrete coloring techniques result in a different color than the normal standard grey concrete color. This gives your driveway, patio, or walkway a consistent color throughout, allowing you to create a specific color design for your concrete that matches your desired aesthetic.

Stamped concrete takes it up a notch by adding texture and patterns to the surface that mimic other materials like brick, stone, or wood. It also includes color for the concrete, but the main goal is to create a specific pattern or texture on the surface. By combining complimentary colors, patterns, and textures, we can craft a more detailed and impressive result compared to just colored concrete.

In short, if you want a solid, uniform color, go with colored concrete. If you’re looking for a textured, patterned look with the added benefit of color, stamped concrete is the way to go.

Here are some of the most popular colors that have been requested from us for previous stamped concrete projects. You can also incorporate more than one color into your concrete designs. For example if you wanted a stamped driveway you could use one color for the main portion of the driveway but a completely different color for the border.

We offer a wide variety of stamp patterns and textures to create the perfect look for your concrete project. Whether you’re aiming for a classic, rustic, or contemporary style, we have options that will meet your needs and desired look. From the elegant look of slate to the rustic appeal of classic wood, our patterns can transform your concrete surfaces into jaw dropping works of art.

Our selection includes realistic textures that mimic natural materials like flagstone, brick, and wood, providing you with endless possibilities for customization. Adding these patterns and textures not only enhance the visual appeal of your space but also add to the overall value of your property.

Here are some of the most popular patterns and textures that our previous clients love:

How Does the Concrete Stamping Process Work?

After we create the perfect custom design for your project our team gets right to work!

The first step is to prep the area for new concrete which may include removing existing landscaping. If the current concrete only has some light damage from regular wear and tear we may also recommend resurfacing the concrete with a new color and pattern rather than demoing and removing the whole thing. After prepping the area, we pour the concrete and get ready for the stamping process. Our team of stamping finishers come in and use special mats to create the desired look for your new concrete.

From start to finish you can contact our team and we’ll take care of every aspect of the project and create a custom result that will last a lifetime!

The Benefits of Stamped Concrete

There are many incredible benefits you'll enjoy when you add stamped concrete to your home. Here are a few key benefits that people love the most!

Highly Durable

Our concrete surfaces are designed to withstand heavy traffic, weather conditions, and wear and tear, ensuring they remain beautiful for years to come.

Custom Aesthetic

With a wide range of customizable options, we can create a bespoke design that perfectly complements your current space or an aesthetic foundation for new builds.

Low Maintenance

Stamped concrete requires minimal maintenance compared to natural stone or pavers. Simple cleaning and occasional resealing keeps it looking fresh and new.

Common Questions About Our Concrete Stamping Service

How much more does stamped concrete cost than regular concrete?

Decorative concrete generally costs $4-9 more per square foot than standard gray concrete with a broom finish. Factors such as the total square footage, concrete coloring, and the chosen stamp pattern influence the pricing of your stamped concrete.

On average, expect to pay $13-18 per square foot for stamped concrete, which is still more affordable than pavers or stones.

Is stamped concrete slippery?

Stamped concrete can be slippery if a smooth stamp is used and it gets wet. However, most of our stamps have more texture than a standard broom finish. For areas that frequently get wet, we add a non-slip additive to the sealer.

This additive is not visible but provides extra grip to prevent slipping. If slipping is a concern, please let our team know during your consultation, and we’ll ensure the additive is included in your sealer.

How long does stamped concrete last?

It can last over 20 years with proper care. Just like regular concrete, the preparation and concrete mix play a crucial role in extending the slab’s life. Proper preparation, pouring, and maintenance can result in a slab that lasts for many years.

How do I remove snow/ice from stamped concrete?

In Colorado, you’re bound to get snow on your concrete if it’s outside. To remove snow from stamped concrete, always try to shovel it off before any foot or vehicle traffic.

This allows the sun to melt any remaining moisture and prevents ice from forming at night. Avoid using salt or sand on stamped concrete as it can damage the surface.

When can I walk on my stamped concrete?

We will consult you on how long to wait during the installation process but as a general rule of thumb, after the final coat of sealer is applied to your stamped concrete, you should wait 2-4 hours before allowing any foot traffic.

Will stamped concrete crack?

Yes, stamped concrete can crack, especially in areas with expansive soils and rapid temperature changes.

We take measures to control where the concrete will crack by cutting control joints, aiming for cracks to occur in these cuts and remain less visible.

It can be difficult to try to imagine all the different possibilities when you’re looking at numerous colors and patterns as flat images on a screen. Especially if you’ve already got a certain style that you’re currently trying to maintain in your home.

That’s why we put together this gallery full of stamped concrete projects that you can take inspiration from.
