The Women of "A Song of Ice & Fire"

This is a fan community for the female characters from the fantasy series "A Song of Ice & Fire".

Mission Statement:

This community is dedicated to the female characters from George R. R. Martin's fantasy series A Song of Ice and Fire and its upcoming television adaptation A Game of Thrones (HBO, starting in April 2011).

Affiliates:

jaimexbrienne -- the LJ shipping community for Ser Jaime Lannister & Brienne of Tarth. Well, duh.

Rules:

1. Anyone who is interested in the women of ASOIAF may join this community and post entries -- provided that you are 18 or older. Sorry, young 'uns, but I don't want to run afoul of LJ's abuse / content policies.

2. Please leave your character-bashing, shipping wars, dislike of particular cast members etc. at the door, though. I'm not interested in hearing why character XYZ sucks or why you hate pairing ABC. You can be critical of both creator and works, but please try to be respectful.

3a. Meta on the books (e.g. character portraits), news on the tv show (e.g. news from the set, interviews, episode reviews,...) and creative fanworks (fics, icons, vids...) are all welcome here.

3 b. However, all entries in this community should focus on or include one or several female characters from ASOIAF.

4. All spoilers have to be put behind an LJ-cut. Since the TV show will probably bring a bunch of new fans with it, please err on the side of caution when using spoiler cuts.

5. Fanfiction of all genres (except for RPF) and ratings is welcome here, too.

5. a. However, fanfiction must always be posted in a locked entry that's members-only.

5 b. Please clearly indicate the genre (gen, het, femslash) in the header.

5. c. All stories should have a rating to show what is appropriate for children and teens. Everything even remotely NSFW (not safe for work) should be put behind an LJ-cut and clearly marked as such. This applies to graphics, discussions etc. as well.

5. d. Please make sure to warn for explicit erotic content, graphic violence and all potentially triggering topics (e.g. rape, torture, child abuse, underage sex, incest, suicide, self harm...). Yeah, I know that most of this is actually in the books, but I consider content descriptions and trigger warnings a common courtesy in fandom. This applies to graphics, discussions etc. as well.

6. All stories longer than a drabble, huge graphics and batches of more than three icons should go behind a cut to have mercy on any dial-up people perusing this community.

7. While news on the HBO actresses etc. is perfectly fine, this is not the place for RPF.

8. Behave nicely. Don't engage in flaming, trolling or throwing around personal insults.

9. a. Don't discriminate against anyone due to their gender, sexuality, race, nationality, ethnicity, culture, religion, age, class, appearance, weight, disabilities or illnesses.

9. b. What's with the f-word in the interest list (i.e. feminism)? Well, you certainly don't have to be a feminist to post here, but I wanted to create a community that's feminist-friendly (as I know from RL that fantasy nerddom and feminism aren't always the mixiest of things). So, if you would like to, for instance, discuss gender roles in the world of ASOIAF from a critical perspective with a feminist bent, feel free to do so. If you aren't interested in that sort of thing and would rather prefer, for example, to create pic spams of the GoT actresses, just go ahead. Both options are fine and dandy.

10. Enough with those rules! Have fun.

P.S. If you should have any questions, please contact me (fallingtowers) via private message. Thanks.
