Hello and welcome to World's Finest, LiveJournal's largest and longest running Superman/Batman community! This community is dedicated to DC Comics's most popular and iconic superheroes, Superman/Clark Kent and Batman/Bruce Wayne. Here you will find fic, art, icons, gift exchanges, comic book scans, news and discussions of the recent movies and comic books -- as long as the post applies to both Superman and Batman in some way.
This is a slash-friendly community, so from time to time you may see posts depicting Superman and Batman as more than friends. But we do encourage everyone to join, whether they are fans of Superman and Batman as friends and/or prefer them in a relationship.
Please DON'T join if you are NOT at the legal age or if adult porn isn't your cup of tea. You may continue to keep this community on your friends list, however.
World's Finest is a very open-minded community, so posts that include content of other pairings (like Bruce/Selina and Clark/Lex) or content focusing on other pairings (such as Robin/Superboy) and include Batman/Superman are allowed and are very much encouraged here; this also includes content that crosses over with other universes like Marvel, Wildstorm, and/or Dark Horse. We'll always be accepting S/B content that's set outside the world of comics, such as using Clark Kent from Smallville or Batman from Batman Begins/The Dark Knight.
1. Please don't post any newbie/intro entries ("Hi, I'm new!") or any kind of off-topic post (DC related but not necessarily S/B related), unless you're providing "gifts" (scans, fic, art, icons, pictures, etc) to the community.
2. Please use the LJ-cut code (or simply link to the item) if:
- it is a video larger than the average size of embedded videos (usually by YouTube),
- you are posting more than three icons, and
- the fanart or comic scan is larger than 400x500 pixels.Remember to label all fanfic/fanart in your post's subject line (like fic: "Earth and Sky") and use the appropriate tags located in the tags section so that everyone can easily find your stuff while browsing.

New to DC Comics? Stick with the character you already feel comfortable with first, either Superman or Batman or both. Start out with a few collections listed below starring one or both of these characters. Use Wikipedia to learn more about the history of your favorite character. Superman/Batman
DC Comics provides the World's Finest Archive hardcover editions, which are stories published from the 1940s to the 1980s. There are also the current Superman/Batman volumes 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and so forth; this title was discontinued in August, 2011. You will find S/B working together again in the newly relaunched Justice League (2011-present).

In December 2009, DC announced a new ongoing graphic novel line, called Earth One, and will be set in a separate continuity from the mainstream line of comics (Detective Comics, Action Comics, etc). This is basically DC's answer to Marvel's Ultimate Comics line in that you don't have to go through 70+ years of books to get an idea of what the DC Universe is like. For more information, please see the news: earth one tag.The first volume of Superman: Earth One was released on October 27, 2010. The first volume of Batman: Earth One is listed on Amazon to be released on July 10, 2012 and has the writer/artist team of Geoff Johns and Gary Frank respectively.
Of course, all of these graphic novels are available online at Amazon, Barnes and Noble, and wherever books are sold.
If comic books aren't your thing, then you may want to try books like The Death and Life of Superman by Roger Stern, DC Universe: Last Sons by Alan Grant, Batman: Knightfall by Dennis O'Neil, No Man's Land by Greg Rucka, and Enemies and Allies by Kevin J. Anderson. Some comic book storylines have been adapted into audiobooks; some of which are listed here. These books and audiobooks are also available in bookstores and online.
