Nursing: Research and Reviews, 2022
The extent to which nurses tailor their care to the patient's specific needs has a direct impact on patient health outcomes. Satisfied people will have good communication with the health professional, which results in good care and health outcome, so this study aimed to assess the association of caring behavior of nurses with the level of patient satisfaction, in public hospitals of the Harari region, Eastern Ethiopia, from March 10 to April 10, 2021. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted among 300 nurses providing inpatient services and 345 randomly selected admitted patients in two public hospitals of Harari region, Eastern Ethiopia. Clinical nurse-patient interaction scale was used to assess the level of caring behavior. The level of patient satisfaction was measured using the patient satisfaction scale tool. We used structural equation modeling to determine the relationship of nurses caring behaviour and the level of patient satisfaction. The association was reported using coefficient (β) along with a 95% confidence interval. The statistical significance of the association was declared at P < 0.05. Results: According to this study, only 51.67% of the nurses had good caring behavior and 62.90% of the patients were satisfied with the nursing care they received. The nurses' caring behavior score was increased by 41% (β=0.41; 95% CI: 0.20, 0.63) and (β=0.65; 95% CI: 0.48, 0.81) as nurses' job satisfaction and work environment scores increased by one scale, respectively. Similarly, the score of patient satisfaction was increased by 2% (β=0.02; 95% CI: 0.01, 0.12) as the score of nurse caring behaviour was increased by one scale. Conclusion: Patient satisfaction increased as the nurses care behavior score increased, so nurses must continue to identify ways to evaluate and increase patient happiness, as well as illustrate the impact nurses have on patient satisfaction with hospital experience as a result of their treatment.
Nurse Caring Behaviors from Patients’ and Nurses’ Perspective: A Comparative Study
European Online Journal of Natural and Social Sciences, 2014
Caring is a complex concept but nevertheless with many definitions of it, unfortunately there is not agreement among researchers about the definitions of caring. As patients are the recipients of care, it is important to identify their perceptions of caring. Accordingly, the aim of this study was to compare nurse caring behaviors from patient's and nurse's perspective. The sample consisted of 150 patients hospitalized in Boushehr hospitals and 50 nurses caring for their patients. Data were collected using a quota sampling method and Caring Behaviors Inventory (CBI). Findings showed that, there were significant differences between patients and nurses perspective in subscales including Assurance of human presence and Attentiveness to other's experience. Moreover, there was a significant difference in total scale of nurse caring behaviors between patient's and nurse's perspective (t=2.559, P=0.011). Significant difference in nurse caring behaviors between nurse and patient satisfaction implies, howbeit nurses believe that they care for patients but can't to make an estimate of their expectations. To reduce this Gap, nurses should attend to human caring and inform patients to real caring.
Determinants of Nurses' Caring Behaviors (DNCB): Preliminary Validation of a Scale
Journal of caring sciences, 2013
Nurses' Caring behaviors might be affected by many variables. The aim of this study was to develop and test a valid and reliable questionnaire to specify these determinants. Both qualitative and quantitative methods were applied to develop the questionnaire. The development process of the instrument was conducted in three phases. The first phase consisted of four steps: in-depth interviews, development of the preliminary version of the 38-item DNCB, expert panel review, and language revision. The second phase involved examining 143 qualified nurses for psychometric properties of the DNCB. The participants were selected, based on quota sampling approach, from four educational hospitals affiliated to Urmia University of Medical Sciences, Iran. The final phase involved testing of the revised instrument using exploratory factor analysis. The results showed good CVI (0.89), test-retest correlation coefficient (0.91), internal consistency reliability (0.93), and acceptable face and co...

Introduction: The international literature presents a significant gap in the study of the factors affecting caring behaviors as perceived by nurses. This gap requires the study of the factors of nurses' caring behavior. Aim: The translation and the cultural adaptation of the Factors of Nurses Caring Behaviors (FNCB) scale in the Greek language, the validity, and internal consistency of the scale. Methods: Between November-December 2019, 329 Greek nurses from six public general hospitals completed the FNCB scale consisting of 32 items rating on a 5-point Likert scale. The scale was firstly translated in the Greek language, then back-translated in the English language and culturally adapted. To investigate the construct validity of the scale, exploratory factor analysis was carried out with principal component analysis. The test-retest reliability was performed while the internal consistency was checked through Cronbach's alpha coefficient. Statistical analysis was performed via the Statistical Program SPSS version 21.0. The statistical significance level was set up at 0.05. Results: The final Greek version of the FNCB Scale includes six factors which were revealed from the exploratory factor analysis: Workplace Circumstances, Workload/Management, Interest/Perceptions on Nursing Job,Nurse's Educational Background, Patient's Demographic Characteristics, and Patient's Clinical Characteristics. The internal consistency of the scale was excellent (Cronbach's alpha 0.95). Conclusions: The Greek version of the FNCB Scale is a valid and reliable questionnaire which can be used for the measure of factors affecting nurses' caring behavior.
Nurses' Behaviors, Perceived as cARING BEHAVIORS BY THE PATIENTS

The affinity of caring to nursing is shown in following quote-Caring is nursing and Nursing is Caring‖. It is not modern notion, but can be dated back to the time of Florence Nightingale. Instead of strong association between nursing and caring, relative little attention has been directed toward the study of the care. The environments in which nurses render the services are one, which suffers from scarcity of the nursing staffs, over workload and limited resources in the ward to perform various nursing activity in the ward. These all affects on quality nursing services. Today most of the economically affordable patients prefer private hospital because they give one of the reasons of non-caring behavior of the nursing staffs in Government hospitals. In order for the profession of nursing to meet its social obligation to provide a-Caring relationship‖ in which our services are given, we must explore what constitutes a caring relationship for our patient. So there must be need to explore the which kind of nurses' behavior perceived as caring behavior by the patients * GOVERNMENT COLLEGE OF NURSING, SIR T. GENERAL HOSPITAL, BHAVNAGAR, GUJARAT.
