Objective-This research seeks to examine the purchase behaviour of environment-friendly automobiles. It also identifies the key factors affecting the purchase intention of green vehicles. The study adopted a quantitative approach, and primary data was analysed on Smart PLS3. The researcher utilised a non-probability sampling technique to select the most appropriate sample for this study. This type of sampling is also known as purposive sampling, deliberate sampling, and or judgement sampling. Independent variables of this study include environmental attitudes such as; environmental knowledge, environmental values and responsibility feeling. These variables were tested against purchase intention, which is regarded as a dependent construct of this study. Finding-Based on the findings, all the proposed hypotheses of this study are proven significant. Environmental knowledge has a positive effect on environmental values. Environmental values have a significant effect on the formation of a responsibility feeling. Responsibility feeling has a significant effect on the purchase intention of green vehicles. Novelty-Individuals who possess adequate knowledge about their environment are likely to develop environmental values, which then transforms into a responsibility feeling towards the environment and then predict the purchase intention of environment-friendly automobiles. Citizens should thus be equipped with adequate knowledge about environmental issues, through formal and informal education, and through socialization agencies and awareness campaigns, as this will help in boosting pro-environmental and sustainable human behaviours. Type of Paper: Empirical. JEL Classification: O31, O32, O33.
This study examined purchase intention of environment-friendly automobile by investigating the interrelationships between the consumers' environment responsibility feeling, values, knowledge, perceptions of environmental advertisement and environment-friendly automobile. The results showed that, environmental knowledge has no significant influence on consumers' perception of the environmental advertisement. However, it has a significant influence on the perception of the environment-friendly automobile. Consumers' environment responsibility feeling and values have significant influence on perception of the environmental advertisement and product. Finally, the perception of the environmental advertisement has no effect on purchase intention of environment-friendly automobile, but the perception of environment-friendly automobile can affect purchase intention.

Saudi Arabia is one of the most oil-rich countries in the world, and oil production is the country’s primary source of income. The aspects of greenhouse gas emissions and the harm they cause to the environment and residents have been overlooked because of the continuous emphasis on economic growth and a high reliance on oil resources. Consequently, environmental issues have become challenging for residents and questionable for industries. Despite various environmental awareness and pollution control studies around the world, Saudi Arabia’s pollution rate appears to be increasing. This study attempted to understand the impact of pro-environmental factors on pollution control and sustainable gasoline consumption in order to fill a research gap in the literature. Environmental awareness, self-efficacy and self-identity, ecological attitude, contextual factors, and social norms were considered as factors to investigate local residents’ sustainable consumption and pollution control behav...
Factors Influencing Passenger Car Consumer Behavior and their Use in the Environmental Public Policy
This paper aims to make an analysis of passenger car customer behavior with an emphasis on the adoption of low-carbon and fuel efficient vehicles, based on the research existing on the subject. As literature shows, consumer behavior is influenced by instrumental factors as well as affective and symbolic ones. The affective and symbolic factors are not so large researched in the literature in the field. Moreover, the instrumental factors are easiest to tackle by the public authorities in their will to make consumer behavior more environmental responsible. But most of these policies fail to succeed in a large scale because the symbolic and affective factors are not took into account. In this paper we analyse the main ideas existing in the academic literature on the study of the consumer behavior for passenger cars and highlight the role of the car in the consumers' mind and what blocks adopting environmental friendly cars. This article is among the firsts to approach this important field of using the influence factors of passenger car consumer behavior in the environmental and public policies.
Environmentally Conscious Behavior among Malaysian Consumers: An Empirical Analysis
This paper aims to investigate the influence of demographic and psychographic variables on environmentally conscious consumer behavior (ECCB) in the context of Malaysian consumers. A survey was developed and administered, generating a total sample of 319 respondents across the country. The preliminary results indicated that all of the variables examined were significantly correlated to ECCB, except for income. Later, the analysis from the regression highlighted that only age, gender and perceived consumer effectiveness (PCE) were significant predictors to ECCB. The findings confirmed that, in terms of psychographic variables, PCE has been proven to be more accurate and significant determinant than environmental concern (EC) for segmenting and explaining different segments and characteristics of pro-environmental behavior. These findings may assist Malaysian policy makers in formulating actionable decisions related to environmental education and protection. The finding also allows marketers to use marketing and awareness-raising campaigns to encourage consumers to choose environmental friendly products.

One of the toughest challenges in social marketing is behaviour intervention. Previous research have developed various models and theories to simultaneously examine behaviour changes and their effects. Due to resources scarcity and global warming, automakers have come out with an innovative idea of Energy Efficient Vehicle (EEV) which has been a great improvement in the automotive industry. This invention targets for behavioral change or behavioral adoption for consumers to adjust their preferences from conventional vehicle to EEV. High market growth in automotive industry have encouraged social marketers, policymakers, governments and academics to propose suitable intervention approach in motivating preferences toward EEV. This study will explore the causal model of Environmental Responsible Behaviour (ERB) in measuring the purchase intention of EEV in Malaysia. In specific, this study focuses on two types of EEV-hybrid car and fuel efficient car. This study will hopefully add onto the body of knowledge for value orientation that influences green behaviour. From the practical perspective, this study may provide insights in assisting the stakeholders and automotive industry players on promoting the pro-behaviour toward EEV.
