New social media has become increasingly popular components of our everyday lives in today's globalizing society. Facebook as a service where users create personal profiles, add other users as friends and exchange messages, including automatic notifications when they update their own profile. To balance the needs and interests of a global population, Facebook protects expression that meets the community standards outlined on its page. This research aims to investigate the Yemeni users' behaviors when using social networking such as Facebook according to the ethical standards. The results showed good behaviors in general, in the other hand there are some bad behaviors especially towards the professors/colleagues. From my point of view, Facebook gives users the chance to post their feelings, opinions freely and without care about the ethical standard which they follow in their real life. This might be indictor to lose the ethical standards by the time in our real life towards the others rights. This research recommends putting more rules and clear announcements and listing more laws to protect the communications and create clean environment.

Develop a Model to Measure the Ethical Effects of Students Through Social Media Use

IEEE Access, 2018

Social media users can be negatively affected by cyber harassment. These effects can cause emotional distress and lead people to stop using social network sites or to end their life. In addition, the users of this technology usually get upset when network providers interfere and consider such interference to be unfair. Therefore, this paper attempted to mitigate the gap in the literature concerning the use of social media for engaging in cyber harassment in the context of higher education. Therefore, the main objective was to develop a model that will bridge this gap. The model developed in this paper is based on the unified theory of acceptance and use of technology, theory of planned behavior, and technology support. To achieve the study's objectives, a questionnaire was used as the main data collection method, and it was distributed to 340 students who used social media. This paper argues that these decisions of interference can be handled by employing a method that users find sufficient and appropriate. In conclusion, this research specifically proposes a model for identifying the significant factors that are anticipated to play major roles in minimizing cyber harassment among Saudi students. The proposed model will help administrations and decision makers to formulate strategies that can significantly affect anti-cyber harassment among students. INDEX TERMS Social media used, engage in cyber harassment, ethical effects, technology use, theory of planned behavior (TPB).

Cyber-Ethics and the Perceptions of Internet Users: A Case Study of University Students of Islamabad

This research aims to investigate the contemporary situation of 'cyber-ethics' that is prevailing among the users of the internet. The cyber world seems to be a second or virtual world for all of those who use the internet. Three diverse perspectives of cyber-ethics, i.e. Professional, Philosophical and Descriptive give a better understanding of how different philosophers, social scientists and even computer professionals view cyber-ethics and how the advancement in the field of technology can be embedded into the social system. Along with the advantages of being 'connected' to the world at large, it also brings some disadvantages on the ethical side and it is no astonishment that Pakistan is also not liberated from the cyber space dilemma. A survey was conducted in four major universities of Islamabad in order to measure the perception of internet users regarding the concept of 'cyber-ethics'. The survey was carried out on 304 respondents (152 males, 152 females) and a detailed questionnaire was used as the prime tool of the survey method. Although the perception of male and female students differ from each other in various regards (as supported by the Ethical Theory of Relativism), the results reveal that there is a positive attitude of respondents towards the main concept of cyber-ethics on the whole, but there is still a long way to go in order to obtain a better understanding and to adopt the proper ways of using cyber technology.
