Investigation of Positive Social Behavior Tendency of University Students Doing Sports or not

Bu çalışmanın amacı, üniversite öğrencilerinin cinsiyet, öğretim türü ve spor yapma değişkenlerine göre sosyal davranış eğilimlerinin belirlenmesidir. Araştırmaya Selçuk Üniversitesinin farklı fakültelerinden tesadüfî örnekleme yöntemiyle seçilmiş 153 kadın, 151 erkek toplam 304 öğrenci katılmıştır. Verilerin elde edilmesinde, "Kişisel Bilgi Formu" ve "Olumlu Sosyal Davranış Eğilimi Ölçeği" kullanılmıştır. Verilerin tanımlayıcı istatistikleri yapılarak, homojenlik ve varyansları kontrol edilmiştir. Verilerin analizinde Independent t test kullanılmıştır. Üniversite öğrencilerinin olumlu sosyal davranış eğilimlerinin duygusal, gizli, acil, kamusal ve itaatkar alt boyutlarında cinsiyet, öğretim türü ve spor yapma durumlarına göre anlamlı farklılıklar tespit edilmiştir. Sonuç olarak, bu çalışma kapsamında elde edilen bulgular, pek çok sosyal davranışın yordayıcısı olan sporun spor yapan üniversite öğrencilerinin kazanma içgüdüsüyle mücadele ettikleri sportif faaliyetlerinde de etkili olduğu ancak etkinin hiçbir alt boyutta sporcuya yansımadığı görülmüş, buna neden olarak olumlu sosyal davranışların spor alanında uygulanılabilirliğinin sporcu başarısını olumsuz etkileyeceği inancından kaynaklanabileceği sonucuna varılmıştır.

Analysis of attitudes of students attending secondary education institutions towards physical education and sports according to various variables

The aim of this study is to examine the attitudes of students in secondary education institutions towards physical education and sports according to various variables. In this quantitative study, a survey model was used. The study group consists of students in secondary education institutions affiliated to the Ministry of National Education. The sampling group, which was determined by convenient sampling method, consists of 387 people in total, 174 girls and 213 boys. In the first part of the measurement tool consisting of two parts; there is a personal information form that includes questions about the demographic information of the participants such as gender, licensed sports status, participation in school sports, income and class. The aim of this study is to examine the attitude levels of students receiving education at university level towards sport with regard to certain variables. The research was designed with the scanning model. A " sport attitudes scale " was applied to a total of 547 students, selected by random sampling method, who were studying at Balikesir University. The research findings revealed that the participants' attitude levels regarding sport were at a " high attitude " level, with an average of 3.70±058. It was determined that participants who did sport regularly had a higher attitude level. It was also determined that according to the education department variable, students receiving sports education together with those in the economics faculty had higher attitude levels. As for the grade level variable, it was revealed that the lowest attitude level belonged to third-grade students. Consequently, with the aim of increasing university students' attitude levels regarding sport, it is recommended that they be given the opportunity to do more sport and that they be given guidance in this direction.

The Reasons for the Reluctance of Female Students at Yarmouk University to Practice Sports Activities

This study aimed to identify the reasons for the reluctance of female students at Yarmouk University to practice sports activities. Investigation into sport motivations of university student, academic and administrative personal and their expectations

The present study aims to determine rationales and motives of students, academic and administrative personnel from the Eskisehir Osmangazi University regarding participating in sport activities and their relevant expectations from them. Totally 198 individuals were responded to the study voluntarily while number of students, academic and administrative personnel were 94, 46 and 58, respectively. "Sport Participation Motivation Scale" and "Participation Motivation Scale" consisted of 30 items concerning individuals' motives for their adherence to sport; and 8 sub-dimensions were employed as data collection tool. t-test and Variance Analysis (One-way Anova) were utilized for paired comparisons and multiple comparisons for sport participation motivation, respectively (P<0.05). In assessment of demographical data, frequency and percentage were utilized. It was observed that the most significant sport motive addressed by respondents was "For my physical health" (N=47; 23.7%). Then, this was followed by the motive of "For my fitness" (N=31; 15.7%). It was determined that sport motivations of participants differs according to gender, age and position (P<0.05). Since exercise and sport participation are considered as a significant factor reducing risks related with various physical, psychological and social problem, significant motives associated with sport participation are required to be determined and the sport programs are required to be organized.

The object of this study is to determine the motives of university students who participate in physical activities during college education and examine whether the data differ according to educational background, sex and family support. A total of 100 students from the department of physical education and sports teaching participated in the study. As a data collection tool in the work, "Participation in Sport Motivation Scale", Gill et al. (1983), translated into Turkish by Celebi (1991) and published by Oyar et al. (2001) have been used for validity and reliability between the studies in the age of 11-17 (6,13) . The purpose of this research is to analyze the attitudes of student-athletes towards sports who played in Universities Volleyball Second League competitions held in Antalya on 16 th-27 th December 2014. Target population of the study is composed of the student-athletes studying in universities in Turkey and playing in the volleyball teams of universities at the same time, and the sample group of the study is composed of 23 studentathletes from different universities who participated in Universities Volleyball Second League held in Antalya on 16 th-27 th December 2014. With the purpose of determining the attitudes of student-athletes towards sports, the participants were applied a survey. SPSS (Statistical Package for Social Sciences) for Windows 21.0 program was used in the analysis of data. Descriptive statistics, t-test for determining the difference between two groups, One-way Anova test for comparisons of more than two groups were used in analysis of data. It has been found that attitude scores of all participants towards sports are high and attitude scores of female students towards sports are higher than those of male students. In conclusion, it has been determined that the attitudes of students playing in the volleyball teams of universities towards sports are positive. It has also been demonstrated that the attitude towards sports by the sex variable is higher in favor of female students; however, such variables as family educational background, income, age and grade point average don't create difference for the attitude towards sports.

The objective of this study is to examine socialization levels of university students engaging in individual and team sports.587 university students in total including 248 girls and 339 boys receiving education in various faculties and graduate schools of Dumlupinar University, Inonu University, Gazi University and 19 Mayis University constitute the research group. To achieve study objective, the socialization scale developed by Sahan was used.Significance was extracted P<0.05 by employing The Kolmogorov-Smirnov test and two-way ANOVA test in solution and interpretation of data. SPSS (Statistical package for social sciences) package software was employed in evaluation of data and finding the calculated values. As a result of this study, students, who are engaged in team sports, have higher socialization levels than students performing in individual sports. Besides, it was found that department and branch variable has an influence on socialization levels of students.

Sports Activities for Undergraduate Students in Saudi Arabia Universities: A Systematic Literature Review

Objectives: Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) has experienced tremendous economic growth in the past few years and this in turn has led to undesirable lifestyle behaviors coupled with an associated rise in non-communicable diseases. This has forced the KSA administration to encourage sports related activities for a healthy life style. In this article, a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) is presented to discuss the current state of Physical Activity (PA) and sports activities in KSA and Other Countries in the World (OCW). The article also presents issues that hinder the success of physical and sports activities development in KSA to identify research gap. Methods: SLR search was conducted using ScienceDirect, Springer, Journal of health sciences and Google Scholar databases. The databases electronic search produced 553 articles at the initial stage. Some of these articles were eliminated since they did not conform to inclusion criteria. Finally a total of 58 articles satisfied the condition and were included for the study. Results: The literature highlighted that the studies investigating the male respondents is quite low having 3 in KSA and 0 in OCW, as against 7 in KSA and 0 in OCW for Females. In addition, the empirical analyses of the result based on this SLR concluded that the sports related studies in KSA are very low as compared to OCW. The study revealed that the main factors that hinder the success of physical and sports activities in KSA universities among males are lack of energy, motivation, self-confidence, and time, while among females, they are lack of social support and resources. Conclusion: It is not encouraged to participate in sports activity in Saudi Arabia. Despite the protests to promote sports activities there is very little action in this area as compared to OCW. Therefore, further research is needed to realize the potential in this area KSA to realise the vision 2030 and goal.
