As there is rapid advancements in technology that allow to do complex tasks, automated machines are going to move from factories and the manufacturing sector to the building and construction sector in this modern world. The construction business is dealing with problems like declining profits, low construction worker productivity, a high number of accidents, poor quality, inadequate building site control, etc. Automation and robotics are the solutions to these problems. The findings demonstrated that automation has a positive impact on lowering costs, saving time, enhancing quality and raising productivity in the construction industry. In order to reduce dangers at work sites, increase quality, and lower building costs, this study makes an effort to use robots in the construction industry. To demonstrate the suitability of robots in the construction industry, a contextual research has been taken into consideration.
Characteristics of existing construction automation and robotics technologies 1
As a first step in detailed assessment, this research analyzes selected attributes of 85 existing construction automation and robotics technologies to examine certain trends in the development of construction technologies and the attributes of the technologies which can influence their use by construction companies. In general, previously identified priorities for automation are close to being fulfilled, and correspond with opportunities for adoption. Most of the technologies concentrate on areas of identified benefits, and attempt to reduce the complexity associated with adoption through only minims changes in tasks. In the same way, complement changes required to use the technologies are kept at a minimum overall. This analysis is used to identify further opportunities for the development and implementation of construction automation and robotics technologies. 0 1997 Elsevier Science B.V.

PurposeThe adoption of robotics and automation (R&A) within the construction industry has been adjudged as slow, despite the possibility of it reducing the high risk posed on health and safety of humans by the activities of the industry. Automation: A New Millennium Technology for Construction Industries
Building and construction industries are one of the major industries around the world. In which Construction industry is a labour intensive. It is conducted in dangerous situations. So, the importance of construction robotics has grown rapidly. Applications and activities of robotics and automation in construction industry started in the early 90s aiming to optimize equipment operations, improve safety, enhance perception of workspace and furthermore, ensure quality environment for building occupants. Construction automation is a broadly defined planning and technical endeavor that includes in distinct areas .It is the development of programmable (i.e., robotic) hardware for the execution of construction work tasks; significant progress has been achieved in equipment navigation systems. It is also the development of computer-based tools for efficient and optimal planning, design, construction, and execution for construction. The main goal of this paper is to convince building designers and managers to incorporate robotic systems when managing modern buildings. This paper studies recent applications for robots and automation in the construction industry and sets opportunities and challenges through a new framework for better planning and control of construction equipment operation. The effective use of automation is one of the greatest opportunities, as well as one of the greatest challenges, facing the construction industry. The major components of an automation strategy, as considered in this paper, are computer-aided engineering and design (CAE/CAD), computerized data bases, feedback of as-built data, automated materials handling, artificial intelligence, and robotics. This paper first describes the current state of the art of robotics in construction and of artificial intelligence in its future role as the guidance mechanism in robots and its current stand-alone role in the form of expert systems. Then it discusses the central role of the computerized project data base in the integration of project design, construction, and operation. In addition, the paper examines the benefits from the increased use of information technology and automation in construction, the institutional barriers to the development and introduction of this technology by the U.S. construction industry, and the technologies that need to be developed in order to implement successfully computer technology in construction.
