This study was carried out to seek if there is a negative psychological factor known as anxiety could really affect students' speaking performance and to find the difference in speaking performance between students with higher level of anxiety and students with lower level of anxiety and also to seek which of the factors of anxiety is dominant. The participants of this research were the first year students of SMPN 2 Bandar Lampung. There were 27 students in that class. The research design was ex post facto to seek the correlation between the variables. Questionnaire and speaking test were used as data collection and then they were analyzed by using Independent T-Test and Linear Regression to test the hypotheses. The results show that the students' speaking performance significantly differs between the two groups. The mean score of higher level of anxiety students was 62.37 while the mean score for lower level of anxiety students was 83.81. Based on the analysis by using Mann-Whitney U Test, it shows that lower level anxiety students have higher score in speaking performance than those with higher level of anxiety as the computation resulted in p value at 0.005. The next analysis by using Linear Regression resulted in r 2 (0.319). The data show that speaking anxiety may give negative contribution to the overall students' speaking performance achievement. It also found that nervousness is dominant factor followed by worry and tension.

An Analysis on Students’ Speaking Anxietyat Tenth Graders of Ma Mu’Allimat NW Pancorin the Academic Year 2017-2018

This study is aimed at investigating students' speaking anxiety at the tenth graders of Religion class of MA Mu'allimat NW Pancor in the academic year 2017-2018. The purposes of the study were: 1) to know what kinds of anxiety the students experience in speaking English; 2) to find the factors of students' speaking anxiety; 3) to learn on what proper method and technique to decrease students' speaking anxiety. This research was a descriptive qualitative research. The participants were consisted of 15 students and have been chosen using purposive sampling. Finding reveals that there are three types of students' anxiety, which are trait anxiety, state anxiety and specific-situation anxiety. For the result of questionnaire, the formula that used was the gained score of respondent divided to total score of five aspects times 100%. The result showed that there were 73.3% agree respond which indicated students faced English speaking anxiety, 17.62% chose neutral, and the rest chose disagree option with 9.05% percentage. Beside questionnaire, the observation and interview result also showed that majority of the students had English speaking anxiety with various factors.

Correlation between Students’ Anxiety and Speaking Ability at English Department of IAIN Palangka Raya

This study was focused to find out if there is or not any correlation between students' anxiety and speaking ability at the 3 rd semester students of English Department IAIN Palangka Raya. The method of this research was quantitative and correlation was the design of the research. The sample of the research was the 3 rd semester students of English Department at IAIN Palangka Raya consisting of 30 students taken by cluster random sampling technique. The instruments were questionnaire and speaking test. The first instrument was FLCAS questionnaire sheet developed by Horwitz et.al (1986), and the second instrument was speaking test. The result of this research showed that the result of r calculation for students' anxiety and their speaking test is-.269. Based on the table of interpretation of r value, the result of r calculated (-.269) is between 0.200 and 0.400, This value shows that there is a negative correlation in low correlation criteria. From the significance (2 tailed), the writers get the score .151. It means r>0.05 which showed Ho cannot be rejected. The result explained that there is a correlation between two variables, students' anxiety and speaking ability of 3 rd semester students of English Department IAIN Palangka Raya.

An Analysis of Students Speaking Anxiety of Eleventh Grade Students at SMK Negeri 1 Lubuk Pakam

The objective of the research is to know the causes of students' anxiety in speaking English, the types of students' anxiety, and the level of students' anxiety in speaking English in the eleventh grade of SMK Negeri 1 Lubuk Pakam. This study uses qualitative methods by collecting data through observation, interviews, questionnaires, and documentation. The Speaking Performance and Anxiety: A Correlation Study in EFL Senior High School Students in Madiun, East Java

This research is conducted to see if there is a significant correlation among the students' speaking performance and speaking anxiety of eleventh grade students in Madiun, East Java. There were 22 students who participated in this study. The researcher used quantitative research method with correlational research design. The researcher collected the students' speaking performance through the speaking test using Brown's speaking assessment and investigated their speaking anxiety using 1-5 Likert-scale questionnaires. The questionnaires were modified from students' speaking anxiety scale conducted by Woodrow. The data were analyzed using IBM SPSS (Statistical Package for the Social Science) ver 22, specifically on normality and correlation test. The result shows that the correlation coefficient number of-0.766 and sig (2-tailed) at 0.000. It means that the H0 is rejected and Ha is accepted, and there is a significant correlation among two variables, moreover the two variables are strongly negative correlated.

An Analysis of Students’ Speaking Anxiety Faced by the Fourth Semester Students of English Education Study Program of English Department of Universitas Negeri Padang

This research was conducted to find out the type and the level of speaking anxiety faced by the forth semester students of English Education Study Program of English Department of Universitas Negeri Padang. This descriptive research used a quantitative descriptive method. The research instruments are questionnaire and interview. The questionnaire used in this research is adapted from the Foreign Language Anxiety Scale (FLCAS) designed by Horwitz. It consists of 33 statements which have three categories as well as communication apprehension, fear of speaking test, and fear of feedback by peers and lecturer. Based on the research analysis, it was found that the level of students’ speaking anxiety is in the middle level with the percentage was 82%. Students’ Level of Speaking Anxiety of the Third Semester Students of English Education Study Program of Fkip Uki Toraja

The purpose of this research is to find the level of speaking anxiety of the third semester students’ of English education study program FKIP UKI Toraja. In analyzing the data of this research, the researcher employed quantitative method. The subject of this research were the third semester students’ of English education study program FKIP UKI Toraja. The data of this research was collected by questionnaire. The obtained data were analyzed using likert scale techniques to analyze data. The results of the research indicate that speaking anxiety is experienced by most students. The data obtained from the positive statement is 66,5% and from the negative statement is 65,9%.
