ABSTRACT: The COVID-19 disruption resulted in reactive and uncoordinated logistics behaviors creating a crisis that impacted the viability of many companies worldwide (Choi, Rogers, and Vakil 2020). The purpose of this study is to suggest how to resolve the issues facing supply chain logistics by first identifying the supply chain disruptions of the past and then analyzing the resulting consequences of these disruptions. We propose to show how fragile the supply chain system in the United States is by demonstrating how existing technologies have not yet been exploited to their full potential, which would help to reduce the vulnerability of supply chains in the United States to new and unprecedented disruptions. We conclude by offering some potential solutions to combat this vulnerability in the supply chain and related logistics by incorporating existing technologies to reduce the impact of future disruptions, whether they are created by policy, by possibility, or by pandemic! The automotive industry is one of the sectors that has been hardest hit by the pandemic crisis. The pandemic’s effects have resulted in multiple disorders, which led to loss of important suppliers and the inability to obtain vital parts, exposing the vulnerability of current Lean Just in Time supply chains. This paper provides a brief analysis of the COVID-19 pandemic's impact on the automotive sector in the Republic of North Macedonia. The provided findings are based on a research study conducted simultaneously in eight automotive organizations in the Republic of North Macedonia. This study sought to investigate the extent of the pandemic's influence on organizations' supply chains, what preventive steps have been implemented to minimize the virus's transmission, and what are the most prevalent obstacles that organizations have experienced during the pandemic.

Supply Chain Management for Extreme Conditions: Research Opportunities

Large companies were concerned about their supply chains with environmental and social sustainability and disruption from natural disasters, conflict, and trade disagreements even before the advent of Covid-19. The additional challenges presented by Covid-19 in 2020 are "extreme" in being distinct from supply chain risk in that not just particular companies, but also entire societies are affected. Therefore, it is appropriate to rethink supply chain management (SCM) for research and practice to cope with extreme conditions, now and in the future, whether due to pandemics, war, climate change, or biodiversity collapse. In this essay, we first present the widespread challenges, along with some of the responses. We then list research opportunities for supply chain management in extreme conditions. These opportunities pertain to retailers' survival in the face of highly successful e-commerce giants and the mixed use of robots and human workers. There are also opportunities to share supply-chain capacity in distribution and coopetition regarding medically necessary items such as anti-virals or vaccines. The growing role of government in supporting business, including the creation of industry commons, also presents avenues for further research.

Managing Supply Chains During the Covid-19 Pandemic

Purpose: The Covid-19 pandemic disrupted the lives of people and organizations, including supply chains (SC). Therefore, this study aims to explore concepts, methods, and tools for managing SC during the Covid-19 pandemic. Methodology: The main research methods were systematic and grey literature reviews, supported by 5W2H and 20/80 methods. Findings: Three research gaps were identified, supported by concepts, methods, and tools for managing SC during the Covid-19 pandemic with other related findings. Limitations: Short research horizon because the Covid-19 pandemic started two years ago, which precluded us from performing full results verification. Supply chains have become the most vulnerable during the COVID-19 pandemic, as evidenced by problems in the supply of semiconductors, food, and other products, which raises the problem of supply chain manageability. Pandemics cause chaotic situations in supply chains (SC) around the globe, which can lead towards survivability challenges.
