A Preliminary Report of Type 2 Diabetes Risk and Related Factors
SN Comprehensive Clinical Medicine
To share the preliminary data of the study being carried out to determine diabetes risks in a hospital located in the center of Kırşehir province in Turkey. The first stage of the research is cross-sectional. The study sample consists of 248 individuals who visited the hospital between April 1 and 30, 2019. The data were collected using a sociodemographic data form and Finnish Diabetes Risk Score scale. A total of 42.3% of the participants are at a high/very high risk of developing type 2 diabetes within the next 10 years. Age, gender, and presence of a chronic disease are accepted as risk factors for type 2 diabetes in the study. Old age (OR = 4.440), being female (OR = 1.95), or existence of a chronic disease (OR = 3.915) increases the risk of type 2 diabetes (p < 0.05). The risk of diabetes is determined to be very high at provincial level and there is a significant relationship between the risk of developing diabetes and risk factors. Province-wide health protection measures should be taken rapidly to prevent diabetes and its complications.

Risk Factors for TYPE II Diabetes Mellitus: an Integrative Review
International Archives of Medicine, 2016
Objective: To identify the evidence available in the literature about the risk factors for type II Diabetes Mellitus. Method: There was an integrative review of the literature in the following databases: PubMed, LILACS, SciELO and Scopus, using the descriptors type II diabetes mellitus and factors of risk in Portuguese and English. The research returned 504 articles from 2006 to 2016. After inclusion and exclusion criteria, one obtained 14 studies, which compose the study sample. Results: Of the studies included in the review, 21.4% were in 2011 and 2015. Regarding the method, 57.0%, were cross-sectional studies. The prevalent Qualis was the category A. In all studies, there were factors of risk for T2DM. Conclusion: By analyzing the studies, it was possible to identify a wide range of factors of risk found in the literature, showing what can favor the development of the disease and the possible means to build preventive and promotional strategies for groups prone to develop that problem.
DIABETES MELLITUS AND ITS RISK FACTORS
EPRA International Journal of Multidisciplinary Research (IJMR), 2018
Prevalence of diabetes mellitus has raised faster in low and middle income countries than in high income country. Diabetes Mellitus is a cardiovascular metabolic condition with characteristics of chronic high blood glucose levels and a high risk of difficulties like, eyes damage, kidneys damage, nervous system damage, hearing deficiency, Alzheimer and cardio vascular diseases. There were 1.16 million cases of diabetes in Sri Lanka in 2016. There are numerous risk factors of diabetes mellitus. But the majority of the humankind is unaware of the factors of the prevalence of this. Therefore the main purpose of this study was to determine the factors effecting for diabetes mellitus. The data were obtained from a cross sectional survey conducted through a structured questionnaire using 100 participants chose from cluster sampling and simple random sampling. Descriptive statistics including mean, standard deviation, frequency, proportion, and percentage and inferential statistics comprising χ2 test, factor analysis, and discriminant analysis were used to analyze the data using SPSS and Excel. Prevalence of diabetes mellitus in females was higher than in males. Higher educated population had a less prevalence of the disease. Diabetes mellitus showed a positive relationship with age, less physical activity, and BMI value. Among these diabetic patientss, 56.9% had family history of diabetes; and 47.10% were performance sedentary work. There was a significant association between diabetic community and BMI χ2 (3) = 31.041, p = .000. Therefore, measures must be taken to implement health policies to aware the society about the diabetes mellitus

Background: Diabetes has emerged as a global pandemic. It is one of the leading causes of death worldwide. This study was conducted to evaluate the trend of prevalence of diabetes in different age groups and understand the changing pattern in the age of onset of type 2 diabetes mellitus. Materials and Methods: This was a retrospective, observational study carried out in type 2 diabetes patients coming to OPD for a period of 1 year from 1st January 2018 to 31st December 2018. The age of onset and year of onset of diabetes were noted. The data was analyzed and presented in the form of graphs and charts. Results: A total of 976 patients with type 2 diabetes who visited OPD during the study duration were included in the study. Maximum number of patients were diagnosed in the years 2011-2015 (n = 318, 32.58%). There is an increasing trend of prevalence over the years. The average age of onset during 1991- 1995 was 48.53 years which gradually decreases to 42.70 years in 1996-2000, followe...

Type II Diabetes Mellitus can result to deadly complications such as Hypoglycemia, Diabetic Ketoacidosis (DKA) and hyperglycemic-hyperosmolar non ketotic syndrome (HHNS) which was an emergency condition for the patient. International Diabetes Federation (2013) recorded that Indonesia rank to be the seventh in the world in the population of diabetes with the total of 8,554 million people, after China, India, US, Brazil, Rusia and Mexico. Data from Riset Kesehatan Dasar found that the prevalence of Diabetes Mellitus (DM) in Indonesia is 2,1 percent, and this is an increase rate compared with the year 2007 which was only 1,1 persen. Specifically mentioned in Sulawesi Utara (North Sulawesy) province, the prevalence of diabetes is 3,6 percent, which is the second after Sulawesi Tengah (Central Sulawesy) (3,7%), and this rate is far more than the national prevalence. Method: The study is in case control method, employing descriptive statistics and Chi Square Test. The data gathered in a purposive sampling technique, from two different locations, which were RSUP Prof. DR. R. D. Kandou, Manado, and Universitas Klabat, Airmadidi, Manado. Results: Age and Family history of diabetes are not significantly related type II diabetes mellitus, while history of hypertension, sedentary lifestyle, hypercholesterolemia, and smoking are significant risk factors contributing to type II diabetes mellitus prevalence. Recommendations: It is suggested for the next study to find balance number of respondents between case and control, and also the variable of gender and vascular disease might be included in the scope of study.
Epidemiology of Diabetes Mellitus: A Current Review
Romanian Journal of Diabetes Nutrition and Metabolic Diseases, 2012
Diabetes mellitus represents worldwide an extremely important public health problem considering its high prevalence, the serious complications triggered by the disease, the associated rate of mortality and, not the least, the extremely high economic and social costs. In 1995 approximately 135 million persons were affected by diabetes and an increase of 300 million cases was estimated by the year 2025. At the end of 2012 a number of 347 million persons with diabetes was estimated, with a prediction of 552 million cases in 2030, that is 9.9% from the world's adult population. The question asked on an annual basis is: "Diabetes where do we go? Can we stop the dramatic evolution?" key words: diabetes, prevalence, mortality.
